I've been wanting to complete the Ephraim Longworth posts but as I am in Malaysia right now, vacationing to my heart's content plus I left my draft in India, the blog entries can wait. :) I have a lot more ideas on my blog entries in the future. :)

I had the craziest vacation ever. Met new people, stayed in a hotel in a red-light area in Geylang while vacationing in Singapore, went absolutely crazy at Universal Studios Singapore, and a few other things that I can't afford to reveal in here. Haha.

I'm having the time of my life. I love home. I dread the thoughts of having to back to India next week.

Ephraim Longworth adalah pemain bek kanan Liverpool zaman dulu-dulu. Kali ni aku nak buat perutusan blog pasal sejarah pulak. Tak tau kenapa aku tiba-tiba berminat pasal sejarah. Jangan tanya. Lagi satu jangan tanya kenapa tiba-tiba aku tulis dalam Bahasa Melayu okay. Sebab aku pun takde jawapan untuk soalan-soalan yang bakal anda tanya itu.

Mengapa Ephraim Longworth? Sebab aku minat nama dia. LOL.

Ephraim Longworth adalah pemain bek kanan Liverpool zaman Perang Dunia Pertama dulu lagi. Aku tertarik nak tulis pasal dia sebab aku rasa dia ni adalah karakter yang sangat menarik.

Eph bermain untuk Liverpool selama kira-kira 18 tahun. Penampilan pertama Eph untuk Liverpool adalah pada 19 September 1910. Sepanjang kareer panjang beliau dengan Liverpool, beliau bermain 371 perlawanan liga dan 490 total perlawanan dalam semua pertandingan. Kalau bukan kerana perang, sudah pasti khidmat beliau sebagai bek yang mantap lagi berganda-ganda.

Eph ni bukan nama je mantap, main pun mantap. Bersama rakan kongsi bek beliau, Donald McKinlay, mereka adalah bek paling mantap sekali dalam liga masa tu. Walaupun beliau mantap, kareer beliau bersama Liverpool bukan la sepanjang masa mantap. Dalam tahun 1913, keputusan perlawanan Liverpool sangat la teruk. Sangat-sangat terlalu teruk. Sekali tu Liverpool kalah bodoh je kat Chelsea. Chelsea masa tu baru naik First Division tapi dah nak kena turun balik sebab mereka lagi sengal dari Liverpool masa tu.

Nak dijadikan cerita, Encik H.G. Norris, pengarah pasukan Fulham dan Arsenal Woolwich telah menuduh Liverpool match-fixing dengan sengaja kalah kepada Chelsea. Eph membidas tuduhan Encik Norris dalam temubual beliau dengan Evening Express pada 5 April 1913.

Ayat dia lebih kurang macam ni kalau diterjemah ke dalam bahasa ibunda kita:

Woi Norris. Pandai-pandai je ko fitnah kitorang eh. Langsung takde asas tuduhan ko tu. Satu atom pun x betul tuduhan ko tu!

Dulu pemain bola sepak bukan semua profesional. Kebanyakan mereka ada kerja tetap. Hari Sabtu je main bola. Berlatih la kadang-kadang bila dah habis kerja. Tapi ada jugak yang bermain bola sepak sepenuh masa. Contohnya Eph ni dan kebanyakan pemain Liverpool. Beliau mempertahankan tindakannya untuk menjadikan bola sepak sebagai kareer hidup. Zaman tu bukan semua pemain bola sepak kelab-kelab dapat gaji. Siap FA England buat batasan gaji maksimum pemain GBP4 seminggu sahaja! Pemain bola sepak sekarang seminggu dapat beratus-ratus ribu GBP!

Dia kata dia bangga dengan kareer dia sebagai pemain bola sepak profesional. Jadi dengan bermain sepenuh masa, dia dapat memberikan sepenuh komitmen ke atas bola sepak, komitmen yang tidak berbelah bahagi, komitmen yang tidak mungkin dia mampu berikan andai kata dia ada perkerjaan lain sambil-sambil main bola tu. Mantap dan tegas pendiriannya Eph ni. Patut la jadi Kapitan Liverpool dan England.

Reds give them Blues

I look like an idiot, don't I? Pandai-pandai nak predict konon. But at least I got the Chelsea line-up partially correct.haha :p

Maxi obviously hadn't been told that you-know-who was no longer his teammate. The first chance of the game came when Maxi sent a sloppy pass right into you-know-who's path but he chose to shoot from distance and could only manage to shoot high and wide.

The first half was a little sloppy for my liking. There were some mistakes by Lucas and Maxi. Other than that, it was a typical Liverpool-Chelsea game; tactical and midfield battles with the keepers almost redundant. Chelsea had more possession but Liverpool defended superbly. Carra, coming back from injury, was a real fighter. He made one incredible block to deny you-know-who after he was sent clear on goal by Drogba. Agger gave you-know-who a smack on the face, much to the delight of the travelling fans. LEGEND. Skrtel was immense and hard. Seems like everyone is playing well under the King's reign.

Lucas made a few mistakes in the first half but he was really good in the second half. He made some interceptions and his passing rate is again ridiculous. He starved Anelka of space, which in turn isolated the front two of Drogba and Torres. Having an extra centre back in the centre closed down any possible space for Drogba and Torres to exploit. With Chelsea playing without width, Liverpool defence stayed solid and wasn't even stretched enough. Reina practically had nothing to do although this is owed to the excellent defending he had the privilege to have in front of him.

Kelly vs Ashley Cole was really interesting. Ashley Cole got owned by a 21-year-old youngster. Hahaha!! I think Martin Kelly is officially my new crush. Fernando who? :p

En Route to Stamford Bridge

I've been thinking about this a lot my head is gonna explode.

The scariest thing about Torres joining Chelsea isn't about us losing our best attacker; it's about Torres and Drogba playing together.

Imagine: Drogba is about the most complete striker you'll ever find. Quick, strong, powerfully built, good technique, great in the air. Torres, although his heading ability can only be considered as fair (at least I think so), has many more qualities in his pocket. You can't let him turn with the ball, you'll be left for dead. His burst of acceleration has always been his main asset (although it seems to have reduced following bouts of muscular injuries) and he can score a wide variety of goals from a wide variety of positions. Notice the goals he had scored for Liverpool; I think Benitez was right when he said Torres had never scored the same goals.

With Torres and Drogba up front with Anelka supporting them (he played in this role to excellent effect against Sunderland, so I heard), it will be too much for any defence in the world to handle. It's frightening. Drogba alone has always given us a handful, with that handful sometimes becomes another extra handful that the extra bits brim out of our small cupped palm.

I think Chelsea's midfield will probably have Essien or Mikel at the holding role, and Lampard and Ramires or Malouda for the slightly forward roles. Torres, if he does play, will probably score. It's incredibly fascinating that some of us suddenly think that he's an average striker, perhaps we're still in denial.

As for Liverpool, I don't think that Kenny will deploy the same tactics we used against Stoke. I think 3-5-1-1 worked well against Stoke because Stoke generally play centrally and not on the wings. Against teams that attack through both flanks like Chelsea, our 3-man central defence will be stretched, leaving spaces for their strikers to exploit in the centre. Those strikers, as we well know, will be Drogba, Torres or Anelka, all of them or two of them. Either way, it will be fatal. To avoid the centre backs being drifted apart, wing backs (Kelly and Johnson) will go down and help with the defence, which will reduce the midfield to 3 men. 3-man midfield vs 5 or 4-man midfield, there is no prize for guessing correctly which team will gain more possession in the midfield.

I trust the King. We may not win, but then no one is expecting that we will. And I'm not known for my optimism either. I just hope that the boys will go out there and play like there's no tomorrow. Good luck lads. You know You'll Never Work Alone. :)

Liverpool, Stoke and Luis Suarez

Last night was a remarkable turn-around from what was happening in the weekend. At least it's football again, not some scandals about a certain former Anfield golden boy.

I woke up five minutes into the game so I didn't know and wasn't expecting the line-up at all. At first it looked like 5-3-2 then it quickly became 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 but all three are effectively the same formations of course. I think it was a tactical masterstroke by our own King Kenny. Moral of the story: Never question the King ever again. :p

Having an extra central defender helped us nullify the big and powerful Stoke striking forces. Stoke were comfortable for the first thirty minutes but nearing half time break, Liverpool were the better team. Kelly's cross from the red hand side was meted by Johnson's header in the six-yard box and I don't know how on Earth did Begovic save that one. That was the first of many chances.

Aurelio and Lucas combined well with a little one-two before Lucas passing the ball to Kuyt, who shot straight to Begovic. Agger made a superb run from defence from being tripped over by Salif Diao, former Anfield man who was yellow-carded for the offence. Free-kick was awarded to Liverpool which was taken by our captain. Slight deflection caused the ball to fall into the path of Kyrgiakos, who left it for Meireles' left foot to sort it out. And there's only one outcome to that. 1-0 Liverpool.

There were pure joy and celebration all around Anfield. The team celebrated, looking more united than ever. The whole evening saw a very good team effort. Just before half time, Anfield erupted with applause upon seeing our new boy Luis Suarez warming up on the byline.

Then came the time for substitution. The time everyone was waiting for. Suarez was coming on for Aurelio! Boy we love him even before he entered the pitch! This is the famous Anfield support I remember. Suarez's touches looked nervous at first but as the time went on he grew more comfortable. In fact all of his touches after that were quite good. He showed class, elegance and great skills. He has a delicate touch of an artist with a paintbrush. (Okay stop me, I'm just babbling now).

Kuyt sent Suarez through on his first touch. Suarez timed his run perfectly, rounding Begovic and shot with his left foot. Wilkinson tried to keep it out but his effort could only bounced off the post and crossed the line. Our new number 7 scored on his Anfield debut! I'm happy that the goal is credited to him, after all it was on target and it would do his confidence a world of good!

The pass-and-move, which has always been Liverpool's forte, worked well in the old times before I was born, worked well under Rafa Benitez and now it's working well under Kenny. Rafa Benitez bought the players that would suit his system and he nearly managed to achieve that. Lucas is the glue that brings the passes together. His passing rate from last night's game is 89.2% of completed passes, which is ridiculously good. Meireles seems to relish playing in a more attacking role since Kenny took over. He and Gerrard play well together, interchanging positions. Aurelio was played as a defensive midfielder and he did well there with Lucas. His poor touch almost contributed to a Stoke goal but Carew shot wide though.

Johnson is doing well at left back and Kelly has been amazing at right back. We retain the ball better with the likes of Agger and Lucas bringing the ball out of defence. We attack as a team and we defend as a team. In fact the early chances in the game came from Johnson and Kyrgiakos, our defenders. Suarez and Carroll with Gerrard and Meireles supplying the ball and Kelly and Johnson supporting from both flanks will be unstoppable.

The only way is up.

Fernando Torres : The last post (I promise)

It was Friday, January 28th, 2011. The rumours about Luis Suarez joining Liverpool was getting stronger and stronger by the minute. Excited as I was, drooling over the thoughts that how delicious a Torres-Suarez partnership could be, I stayed logged on to the internet at all times. I kept Tweetdeck on with the highest system volume possible as news travels fast on Twitter.

That evening, suddenly there was a sudden multiple influx of tweets from journalists from different media confirming that Liverpool had a deal with Ajax over the transfer of Luis Suarez. I was overjoyed, as I am sure most of you were too. We had a striker who would complement Torres' style of play, who has great skills and pace, can hold up the ball well in tight areas and equally good at finishing too.

With the sense of euphoria that nothing else could go wrong, I went to bed. We had been hearing about Torres' transfer rumours all the time that we just laughed it off. Everybody went to bed happily, me included.

How wrong we were. How wrong we could be.

I woke up Saturday morning not bothering to switch on my computer and read the news. I took off to work as usual. After finishing work at 1 p.m., I felt uneasy on my stomach so I decided against lunch. I walked to the parking lot, found my scooter, put the key in the ignition, and rode back home. Little did I know what awaited me in the cyber world.

I switched on my computer, walked to the fridge to get some ice cream and opened the official Liverpool website. Torres had submitted a transfer request which was rejected by the club. At that moment, the whole world seemed to have sunken to the deepest pit of the ocean. A dark mist engulfed me, eating away at me until I felt the hollowness inside of me. That's when the funk began.

I barely slept that night, and the following night, and the night after that. I stayed up all night keeping track of the Torres saga. His every movement was being tweeted. Torres just arrived at Melwood. Torres just left Melwood. Torres was in a discussion with the board. Every single thing Torres did was being tweeted. Everyone posted links about him on Facebook. At one point, I got really sick of the whole thing. All I wanted was that the whole thing to be ended as soon as possible.

These past 4 days had been an ultimate emotional torture. In the end I just gave in every hope of us clinging to Torres. He wanted to go. His mind was made up. There was nothing we could do about him. As King Kenny put it succinctly, the most important people at the club are those who want to be here. Let him go. Let this thing end.

Liverpool fans all over the world had mixed feelings about Torres. Some issued emotional pleas for Torres to stay. Some called him Judas. Some called him ungrateful twat. But none of it made any difference. After all, we're just fans, we're just a bunch of pathetic people who used to gape in adoration whenever Torres scored at the Kop end. We're not the one paying his paychecks. We're just a bunch of lame abusing fans who used to bounce uselessly to his name in every game even if he wasn't playing.

So long story short, he left. Off he went. From Red to Blue. Easy as that. Smiling in the photos of him holding the disgusting blue Chelsea shirt, saying he's glad to be at a top-level club. Oh Fernando. Monday, January 31st was the most dramatic day in the history of Liverpool Football Club ever.

So many questions are left unanswered. Why, Fernando, why? Why now? Why Chelsea? Couldn't you have waited till the summer when you can go abroad? Chelsea aren't exactly setting the world alight with their ageing squad. You said you loved us, why didn't you give us a chance to say goodbye? We knew the day would come when you would finally leave us but couldn't you do it with a bit more class like how Alonso did? Alonso submitted the transfer request too and he did it with grace. He gave an interview to the club, acknowledging the club's contributions and thanking the fans for our support. We are very disappointed with you Fernando. The first interview you gave after days of deafening silence is to Chelsea TV. How inappropriate. And why 3 days before the transfer window closed? Why? The questions that would go unanswered for the rest of the eternity.

We loved you, Fernando, perhaps some of us still do. We loved you even before you put on the Red shirt. We loved you the moment that hawk-eye camera captured an image of "You'll never walk alone" inscribed at the inside of your captain's armband while you were at Atletico Madrid. You were already a Kop hero when you first signed. Anfield bounced in utter delight when you scored your first goal, ironically, against Chelsea on your Anfield debut. You were our darling, Fernando.

We loved that you stood up to Terry in that game. We loved that you spooked Vidic and scored at Old Trafford, then you took off celebrating with your right arm held high, your fingers stretched, a reminder to the United fans that we, Liverpool, have won the European Cups 5 times. Those were the good times, Fernando.

We cherished our relationship with you. And like any other relationships, someone might end up cheating on their partner. That's you, Fernando. You told us you loved us two weeks ago, then all of a sudden, out of the BLUE you said you're leaving us and never wanted to talk to us again. We wish we had a clean break-up, Fernando. And like any other broken relationships, we fantasize that you would be miserable in the arms of your new partner and you would come running back to us, begging us to take you back. But after a while, when it finally sinks in, like any other relationships, we wish you all the best for your future and please, pretty please, do not do a Mascherano.

Fernando Torres...again

I know I said that if Torres really wanted to leave, then we should let him. NOT.

I love the way our board fights for our best player, warding off pests with no history like Chelsea.

As much as I am disgusted with Torres' attitude, handing in the transfer request, I say keep him till summer at least. Then if he really wants to leave, sell him abroad. Why would we sell him to our rival? They wouldn't wanna be selling their best player to us, would they? If he sulks, put him in the reserves. Sulk all you want then.

This is going to be really emotional. Fernando, we loved you, even before you put on the Red shirt. We loved you since it was revealed that you have "You'll Never Walk Alone" inscribed underneath your captain's armband while you were still at Atletico. Our love for you even bonded us with Atletico's fans. We truly loved you, Nando. We adored you when you picked up Gerrard's inviting pass at the left hand side, gliding past Tal Ben Haim and scored on your Anfield debut against Chelsea. We loved that you didn't back off and stood firm against Terry when being provoked. We loved that you spooked Vidic and gave the Manchester United fans a reminder of who were the biggest club in England. We loved you, Fernando.

On the hand, maybe selling him is a good idea. He has just over two years left on his contract, so a year from now his value could reduce, and the following year he could even leave for free. This is the time when we can get maximum value for him. Life doesn't end if Torres leaves.

And why bring the question of loyalty again? Loyalty doesn't mean anything. Swapping clubs is not unlike swapping jerseys. Next week you wake up and wear blue instead of red. No biggie, ain't it. I believe compassion is more important. And sense of fulfillment. If he believes that Liverpool are not even close to winning trophies, he would have neither of those 2 feelings.

This is a terrible entry but I'm not bothered to check the spellings and grammatical mistakes and my sentence structure. Maybe I'll do that later. Adios amigos.

King Kenny

I was just finishing up with Kenny Dalglish's autobiography this afternoon after getting off work. When I was done, I put the book down and took a nap. Wrong thing to do! I woke up a few hours later and checked my Twitter timeline. Turned out my timeline was full with welcoming messages to King Kenny! I was thinking, "What the hell happened??"

Congratulations King Kenny, a man considered to be the greatest ever Liverpool player, the player placed first in the '100 players who shook the Kop' list. This is the man who won three European Cup. This is the man who held Liverpool together through two tragedies; Heysel in 1985 and Hillsborough in 1989.

The Kop's adoration for King Kenny has never gone. Every game, they chant his name. They will never forget that it was Kenny who held Liverpool together during the two tragedies. In fact, the whole Hillsborough chapter is extremely emotional. I'm not ashamed to admit that I managed to shed a few tears reading that chapter.

Eventually, for the sake of his health and his family, he resigned mid-season in 1991. Liverpool were top of the league. Liverpool have also never won the league since. After more than five years managing Liverpool, he went on to manage Blackburn Rovers, turning a second division club into Premier League winners. However, when Rovers chairman at that time, Jack Walkers questioned his judgement about a player he wanted the club to buy, he knew it was time to leave. All these while, all of these 20 years, he has been wanting to come back home. His Liverpool home. He was disappointed when the club appointed Gerrard Houllier to work with Roy Evans. He put up his name for the job when Rafa Benitez left but was told by Broughton and Purslow that they had bigger, long-term plan for him.

So here I thought I'd compile some nice quotes from his autobiography. Hope you enjoy.

Being black, John Barnes used to get racial abuses from many people. "In one team meeting at Melwood, I explained a certain tactical shape I wanted by moving figures around a magnetic board. Ten of them were red and one was black. 'That one's you, Barnsey.' Everybody laughed. Digger (Barnes) certainly did."

1985/86 season when he scored what was considered as one of his greatest goal at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea to win the league title in his first season as a player-manager. He was interviewed by TV reporters afterward.

" 'How did you score that?' asked some TV reporter.

'I closed my eyes and hit it.'

'You closed your eyes and hit it?'

'Is there an echo in here?' I laughed and walked off."

1985/86 season. en route to winning the league and FA Cup double in his first season in charge. On the eve of the Cup final game vs Everton at Wembley, he was asked by some reporters about his prediction for the game.

"It will be hot and sunny." he replied.

Before the game, another reporter cornered him.

" 'Mr. Dalglish, people call you monosyllabic.'

'What?' I replied and walked off again."

Kelvin MacKenzie, The S*n columnist wrote what was allegedly "THE TRUTH" about Hillsborough. As a result, the people of Liverpool ran amok against the paper, burning the papers in the news stands. MacKenzie called Kenny to ask how to resolve the problem. Kenny's answer was, "See that headline you put in, 'THE TRUTH'? Just have another one, as big: WE LIED, SORRY."

Before signing for Liverpool, Kenny once nutmegged Clemence, the Liverpool keeper at the time and scored. When he came to Melwood, the players kept asking him to wind Clemence up about that goal.

" 'Don't worry about that goal, Clem,' I told him. 'You've always been weak between your

legs!' "

On Ferguson in 1988: "You'd get more sense out of my two-year old." Brilliant.

To be honest, I don't think it would have done much difference to Liverpool. Getting into top 4 is virtually impossible. I genuinely hope that the appointment of Kenny as a caretaker manager will unite Liverpool and give the players motivation and confidence. Whether our bad results were down to tactics or the players' lack of confidence, I hope it will all soon go away.

Good luck against Manchester United tomorrow, lads. We fans are hoping that you'll play your hearts out. For the Red shirts, for Liverpool, for us, for yourselves. YNWA.

Because I can't stand it anymore. . .

It's hard to be excited about anything these days. I mean, ANYTHING at all.

I'm angry all the time. And I tweet about it almost all the time. And most of the time, my friends think my tweets are crazy and silly and funny.

I'm currently reading Jarhead by Anthony Swofford. I haven't seen the movie but what I've learnt from this book is that soldiers are damaged people. Mentally. Sometimes I feel like I'm mentally damaged too. I did things that I'm not proud of just for the fun of it or just for the sake of trying. To the heck with it.

So I got stung by a bee today. That little prick got underneath my white coat and stung me when I was taking my coat off during lunch break. Since I was admitted to the hospital before because of a wasp sting (the doctor said it was absolutely necessary to admit me), I thought I should go to the hospital.

So to the hospital I went. My friend told me to go straight to the casualty. To the casualty I went. They asked me what happened, I told them, even showed them the little twat that bit me. They took my medical history. Since I had history of childhood asthma and sometimes exercise-induced asthma particularly during winter, they told me that I should get treatment for it. They told me I needed to go to the medicine outpatient department and get a prescription from there.

I mean, WHAT THE HELL. They were only gonna prescribe me some steroid and anti-histamine, I can prescribe myself with those. I only needed someone to inject me with those because I'm a crybaby and I don't have the gut to inject myself.

But I went to medicine anyway. Had to wait for half an hour to get the card done. Yes, only the card. Took another 15 minutes before I could see the doctor. And I was the first in line. Wonder what happened to the patients who are morbidly sick on a busy day.

A nurse took my card and told me to sit. I sat on the bench outside the doctor's office. 15 minutes later, she called my name and asked me to remove my sandals before going inside. I peeked into the office and I saw that the doctors were wearing their shoes so I decided to ignore the nurse and went inside with my shoes on.

The doctor, Dr. Vijay Somannavar (I will remember you till the day I die), told me to sit on the stool. The stool was 4 feet away from where he was sitting. He asked me what my problem was. I told him, "Sir, I got stung by a bee". He didn't understand this. I repeated the same sentence three times. Then I rephrased, "A bee stung me" and "a bee bit me". They didn't seem to know what a bee was. I said, "a bee, you know, an insect that stings people?". Finally they understood. One of them said, "It has biting you?" What the hell. And I thought my English was terrible enough.

He wrote my chief complaint as "history of insect bite half an hour ago". He made it sound like I freaked out and went to see a doctor because I got bitten by a mosquito. For fuck's sake. I got bitten by a bee. I could have gotten anaphylaxis and DIED. (Anaphylaxis is a severe,sudden or delayed allergic reaction that can kill you, by the way.)

Dr. V: Go to Casualty and take this injection, one Avil injection, then take this tablet once daily for five days. After you got the injection you come here.

Me: Sir, what injection and tablet are you prescribing? Are those anti-histamine?

Dr. V: Yes, it's anti-histamine. Now do you wanna talk or do you wanna hear me talk? If you wanna talk then fine with me, otherwise you shut your mouth and listen to me talk.

WTF is your problem? Do I have no rights to know what are you prescribing me? It's not like I asked you where did you get you tight-ass hookers from. I'd just like to be informed about my treatment.

This place is brimming with that type of people. Those who think that they are so superior than the others, those who think that other people are the vermin, the scum of the earth. Is that why you positioned the stool for the patient to sit on 4 feet away from where you were sitting? You're disgusted with the poor, dirty patients coming to seek your medical assistance that you don't even want to touch them thinking that they're the scum, low-life bastards who don't deserve a place on this Earth? Well, guess what, this world does not need people like you.

I hate doctors like that. I hate doctors and medical students who wear their stethoscopes around their necks like a dog collar all the time, even when they shit. I hate doctors who never miss to write a Dr. prefix to their names every time and everywhere even when checking in to the hotel rooms or booking bus tickets or filling in a magazine subscription form. I don't even know why is that even necessary.

I understand, you worked hard to get that title, hell I know how hard you worked to get the title. But for me, being a doctor means something more. Something much more. To put it simply, it means that YOU HAVE TO HELP PEOPLE. Not boasting around that you are a doctor. You're not GOD. You may be able to perform a complicated triple by-pass heart surgery and save the patient's life but you're not GOD. You may be able to amputate a gangrenous limb and do a beautiful job which may save the patient's life, but then BAM! Fat embolism from the bone marrow of the amputated limb gets into the circulation, gets lodged in the heart, the patient dies, because you are not GOD. I hope these people don't taint the noble profession by their atrocious conduct. But then again, this is India. People are poor and uneducated and let themselves to be treated like that. So all I can do is bitch about it in this blog. Selemah-lemah iman. Cuma mampu membenci dalam diam.

2010 Memories?

Background: Liverpool vs Wolves. Liverpool are trailing 0-1 with less than 10 minutes remaining.

I won't bother to say anything about that match. It's depressing.

Earlier today, our young Malaysian football team won the AFF Suzuki Cup for the first time since its conception. I was over the moon but the euphoric moment was killed off by Liverpool's lacklustre performance.

With only two days left to 2010, I honestly can't wait for it to be over. I'm really hopeful that 2011 will be a better year for my career, love life and life in general.

2010 has been a depressing year for me. There are too many low points, I can literally count the highs with my fingers.

Me and my ex broke up in January. I don't wanna go too much into it so let's just say that we didn't end on great terms. That left me depressed for many months later while struggling to keep up with my final year requirements.

Thank God I passed my final year with first class. I'm really thankful to Allah for granting me my wishes although I haven't been the best servant. And to my family and friends and someone that helped keep me sane throughout the turbulence phase of my life.

In short, there are only 3 things positive that I would remember in 2010.

1) Passing my final year.

2) Malaysia being the new King of South East Asian football.

3) The amazing experience with a very bad boy post-breakup.

What I don't want to remember:

1) The 10 day gap between my theory and clinical exams. The time that we used to find at least 7 patients for 7 different clinical exams. Terrible is an understatement, I weighed 40kg at the end of my exams and I'm still surprised why I didn't fall sick at all. Not even the slightest cold after walking in heavy rain every single day.

2) Everything about my past relationship and the way it ended.

If the scoreline was reversed, full credit has to be given to our central midfield pairing today. Lucas and Meireles played well. Meireles was guilty in giving away the ball a few times but overall a good performance. Lucas bossed the midfield.

Skrtel scored at both ends. He was the fastest to react when the ball was half-cleared from Meireles' freekick. Then..... he scored an own goal. Modric made a great run down the right and tried to pass the ball to the middle when Skrtel's attempt at clearing the ball went wrong.

I thought Torres and Maxi played and linked really well. That delicate touch from Torres that put Maxi through was brilliant. They both are guilty with the missed chances though.

Konchesky....well, I have no good words on him. Found asleep, caught out of position time and again. He really shouldn't be in the starting XI now that Aurelio's back. Roy, please call Insua back. He can't have done worse than Konchesky.

Johnson did pretty well against Bale at both ends. But our defence crumbled when Carra was out injured. The main concern for us at this time being is the fact that apart from Johnson, our defence lacks pace. In Bale and Lennon, Spurs have really tricky wingers with lightning pace. Lennon went past Konchesky with a breeze time and again.

Martin Atkinson was bullshit. Meireles didn't deserve the yellow card. Can't complain much about the other cards, but why no cards for Spurs? We had some pretty decent penalty claims too.

I don't think this is Roy's fault either. Konchesky was terrible but we missed a few good chances. Individual mistakes led to the goal. As bad as he played today, Skrtel's own goal wasn't Konchesky's fault. Carra was awesome though. That block early in the second half was awesome. But it's Carra, so it's a luck. If it's Rio or Terry, it's great defending. Bollocks.

I resisted myself from retaliating today. I kept reminding myself that they're not worth it. Since when do Spurs have a lot of fans? All jumping ship because Spurs are in the Champions League, ain't it? Yeah they think they have the right to thrash talk Liverpool, but when I say something against their teams they swear at me. Sigh. Why can't we have a proper, intelligent discussion? Why do you think that you know everything? Why do you always have to belittle other people's opinion?

You know what pisses me off? Melayu yang rasa bangsa dia yang suffer paling banyak dalam dunia ni. Melayu yang expect bangsa-bangsa lain tolerate budaya Melayu tapi pada masa yang sama refuse to tolerate other races' culture.

So what if you're overseas, not at a Muslim-majority places and they serve alcohol at dinners and events or your non-Muslim friends order alcohol when seating down having a meal together with you? Are they forcing you to drink it? No, right? I have a lot of non-Muslim friends. None of them have ever forced me to drink alcohol or makan babi. Non-Malays are more tolerant that sometimes I feel more comfortable to be around them. They tolerate me and my religion well. They never complained that we have to stop doing whatever we're doing because I have to go meet the Maker 5 times daily. They never complained, and I don't ask them to pray with me. So why should I get mad at them when they drink?

Next time you think that they're insulting Melayu and agama Islam, why don't you just take a moment and think: Am I setting a good example as a Muslim to them? Are we, the Malay Muslims yang kononnya religious people, setting the good examples as Muslims as portrayed by our Prophet (p.b.u.h.)? Nobody's perfect, I know, but are we doing all we can to be good Muslims? Stop condemning other religions. Sure, we believe that Islam is the greatest religion, but they don't. You think other religions don't make sense? Well, if you see it from the logical point of view, NONE of them make sense. They believe things that seem ridiculous to us because they have FAITH in their religions. Like we do for ISLAM. Let's just put ourselves in their shoes for a moment: If you don't believe in Islam, does Isra' and Mikraj seem logic for you? Does Mukjizat seem logic?

So, one word: TOLERANCE. We can all co-exist. We can all live in harmony if we learn to TOLERATE. There will be no more of those racist remarks and "insulting" other religions. This is a free country, right? We can live together in harmony if we learn to tolerate. Tak perlu all those 1Malaysia bullshit.

A lot of things are going on in my head. I had a dream last night; a bad one. I dreamt that Johnson was megged by Bale. Ahhhh.

I am currently posted in Prosthodontics. It's that branch of dentistry that concerns with making dentures and prostheses. Anyways, I'm telling you this because I think my patient is a psychopath. So far she has not displayed any emotion that I could see. You see, most patients smile when they get their brand new teeth. But this patient is an enigma. No emotion. Stone-cold babe. Penat aku buat cantik2 seyh. No "Thank you, doctor" either.

Work's a bitch at times. Most of the locals keep dodging the workload. They will come in the morning, sign the register then angkat kaki. Sometimes when other departments have patients overload, they will import the interns (that's us) from our department. But these locals are so effin clever. They always tell the lecturer that they have work to do. And I can't believe that the lecturers always, always buy it. We, the Malaysians, who have real work to do, who are too polite to say no, who have work ethics, have to go and work extra every time. Me, for instance, are juggling 3 dentures at the moment. Sometimes I just get off work feeling really shagged all I want to do is sleep.

About the game against Spurs this Sunday.

I have always dreaded big games. Winning is a joy, but defeat is painful. When Liverpool are not playing well, it feels like I'm being tortured, dying a slow, painful death. And I have been dying a lot of times this season. It makes me wanna break the TV set. I'm not exaggerating.

Anyhow, what's the best line-up for the match? I reckon we should play Kelly at right back and Johnson at right wing, that should be sufficient to control Bale? Meireles and Lucas ( is he still injured?) at the centre, with Lucas kicking Van der Vaart's ass out of the game. Torres up front, Kuyt given a freedom of the city. Maxi's playing well, so maybe put him on the left. I haven't been watching a lot of games these days and haven't been reading a lot of news too, so I have not kept track with the injuries. Oh well. We tend to play shite away from home anyway. Can't bloody wait. Whatever happens, You'll Never Walk Alone.

Gahh. Bad day.

There was a video shoot today. I have no idea what it was for. When I asked, the guy just told me that they're going to show it to some people back in Malaysia. He's an agent who arranges seats for Malaysian students in Indian universities, so I'm pretty sure the video is to lariskan his business guna muka kami yang hot ini.

So we were practically given a script, what to say in front of the camera. How long have you been here, how do you like this place and its people, how is the facilities, practical training, blah blah.

So the guy turned to me and said, "Hey, why don't you say something in Bahasa?"

I said, "Uh, okay. What do you want me to talk about then?"

He replied, "Just tell us about this college, how do you find the place, the facilities, the teaching."

I answered, "Okay, fine."

NOT.

I'm pretty sure I looked like an idiot.

I couldn't even find the words to say what I wanted to say in Malay.

It's like I left my brain some place else.

Then we have to re-do the shoot.

I screwed up again.

Not until he told me to talk in whatever language I was comfortable with and allowed my friends to chip in when I was lost for words.

Finally the torture ended.

Not to exclude other elements, I do think that we had a bit of luck yesterday. Drogba came down with a fever the night before, Essien and Lampard were out with injuries. I have changed a lot.

Some changes are for the better while others are for the worse.

I have become a worse servant. I know I've got to get my life back on the right track but I can't seem to do it at this moment. I've gotten involved in some pretty heavy stuff and it's kinda hard to get back to normal once you got yourself into this kind of shit. No, I'm not doing drugs.

But I'm happier. As happier as I can be. It does get lonely sometimes though but it's better than getting psyched over a stupid argument.

I feel like I'm seeing the world for the first time. I've become less judgmental and learnt to accept things the way they are. I've become optimistic and pessimistic at the same time. I know that sounds weird but I have no idea how to explain it.

Oh dear God. What on earth have I got myself into.

By the way I'm loving my job. I have more freedom in my work now that I'm having a Dr. prefix to my name. My clinical judgments are even accepted and considered. I love to see the patients smile upon looking at their new teeth in the mirror.

Other than that, I can't stop thinking ,"Dear God. What have I got myself into."

It's been a hectic life for me in the past three weeks with work and stuff. I've been working non-stop from 9 to 5, 6 days a week, missing lunch almost every alternate days. It's been some sort like a cultural shock to me since we didn't use to treat this many patients during our student days. It's busy, it's mad, it's crazy all around but I'm loving it. :)

Sigh. About our beloved Liverpool FC. Where do I start. Perhaps I should start that I am currently reading a book titled Red Men: Liverpool Football Club the Biography by John Williams? Yes, I think that's the least painful way to start talking about LFC.

There are two main problems at Liverpool this season: 1) Bad result. 2) Bad performance. The former can easily be explained by the latter. Anyway, it's mental that some people are still blaming Rafa for the mess that Liverpool are in. Last season they used to say that seventh place wasn't good enough, with the players we had at that time we shouldn't be at seventh. However, these people seem to think that we deserve be in the 18th place, as the table stands at this very moment, with the players we currently have?

Don't get me wrong, Rafa had his own shortcomings back when he was still the boss, but I think that these shortcomings seem to be magnified while Roy's ones are conveniently overlooked. They both have totally different styles when it comes to management and tactics and stuffs but I will not go into the details on these. Maybe some other time I will. NESV are giving Roy probation time until Christmas. In the meantime, we just have to watch and see and continue supporting our beloved Liverpool FC. There's a reason that our blood is Red.

P/s: This is a lazy entry since I haven't been posting anything for a while. Will write a more useful entry soon, Inshaallah.

Mascherano and Meireles

I have totally forgotten that I have a blog! Been busy with final exams and stuff. Now I'm at home in Malaysia and I have also passed my finals. Will start working in September, Inshaallah. :)

The most controversial transfer saga of late would be that of Mascherano's of course. How disgraceful. Rafa Benitez picked him with from West Ham when he was rotting in the reserves and Liverpool made him one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. Sure, family should come first but contract and professionalism are part and parcel of your job as a professional footballer. Do you know how lucky you are to be blessed with such talent and being paid with such ridiculous amount of money?

Regardless, we will definitely miss Monster Masch as a player but honestly I don't think many of us can take all the whining from him and his agent anymore. I wish you all the best in your future undertakings but this kind of attitude has left a dark mark in your Anfield legacy. Fabregas, at 23, seems to handle it better than Mascherano does.

Liverpool move in quickly to replace Mascherano with the capture of Raul Meireles from Porto, subject to medical. While there is not a single doubt that he is a good player, made a good impression in the World Cup and used to playing in Europe, he is a different kind of player to Mascherano. He's some sort like a box-to-box midfielder that takes defensive responsibilities as well. If the rumours are true, and I hope they are, welcome to Liverpool FC Mr. Raul Meireles.

Torres has yet to commit his future to Liverpool. According to Hodgson, Torres has a "beef" with the club. I wonder what would that be. Broken promises?

In my opinion, if Torres feels like Liverpool are not going forward even with a new manager, what with the owners are still staying, he would leave. He's young, talented, and deserves to win cups. The major ones.

I was so convinced that Alonso would not leave last season, so this time around I don't wanna put my hopes up. Hope Torres will come out and tell us what he really feels, if he wants to leave then he better leaves sooner as it will give us more time to find a proper replacement. Not that anyone can replace El Nino.

New everything

Fans all across the globe have been singing praises for Mr. Roy Hodgson although he is yet to lead the team to one competitive game. I can understand the excitement, it's just that I find it hard to be excited with anything these days.

It's amazing how one signing can have many positive effects on the team. With Joe Cole signing for Liverpool, we suddenly look creative. Our attacking players next season would be Gerrard, Torres, Kuyt, Cole, Jovanovic, Aquilani, Maxi Rodriguez, Ryan Babel (albeit rumour has it that he will be swapped with Huntelaar). Gerrard has pledged his future to Liverpool, don't think he has much of a choice really. He's too important to sell cheap but too old for other clubs to buy. Not that I'm complaining.

Cole, I know we've had our differences in the past years, but you start scoring those fluke goals at the Kop end, then I promise I'll learn to love you. Although I do think that 90k wage a week is a bit too much for him.

Regret Insua's sell. He's 21 years old Argentine international with a great future ahead of him. At the very least, he'll be a decent player. Yes he had been caught out of pace and position a few times last season, but which defender at his age has excellent positional sense. Can't see the logic in selling him really. Think Purslow just wanted to get rid of Rafa's players. Fiorentina willing to pay 5mil for him after a disappointing season at Anfield just shows the amount of potential they see in him. I think Purslow only saw a quick 5mil, which is used to fund Danny Wilson's buy. We still need a left back, although Agger and Wilson can probably play in that position, we still need a proper full back.

Cole is again a good replacement for Benayoun. Can't believe the things Yossi said to the press. He worked hard to earn his place in the first team, then got injured and lost his place to Maxi. What's more unbelievable is that Broughton claimed that it was Rafa Benitez who had sold Yossi to Chelsea. Just ignore the fact that Rafa was let go 6 weeks before Yossi was sold. Just ignore that.

Now we'll see who will be offloaded. Probably centre backs, Kyrgiakos or Skrtel. Skrtel didn't have a good season, but I'm convinced he has good tools to make a comeback. I don't understand the criticism Kyrgiakos got, I think he did well last season. And we need someone who dominates in the air in certain games. Well it's up to Purslow. My opinion does not matter.

So the World Cup is almost coming to its end. To be honest I didn't expect the Netherlands to make it to the final. They defeated Brazil, my favourite to reach the final, albeit it was triggered by Felipe Melo pushing self-destruction button that resulted in Brazil being kicked off the tournament. And questionable goals against Uruguay, but lets not take anything against them. They do not reach this stage by luck, they're doing things right.

Spain may not have scored many goals in the tournament, but they are still a joy to watch. I think the reason that Spain have not been able to score a lot in the World Cup is that the teams playing against them defend in numbers, making it harder to penetrate the defense. But most of the times they remain calm and play their style of football, they pass and pass and pass, rarely resorting to long balls towards the front or attempting impossible dribbles. They pass and pass the ball around, recycle the possession, from the front to the halfway line, look for an opening, and bam, they find some unexpected space with an unexpected player running in it. Their passings wear their opponent down, and they're good at pressings too, making it sometimes impossible for the opponents to even complete simple passes.

I think the key to winning the final is the battle in midfield. In Van Bommel and de Jong for the Netherlands and Busquets and Alonso for Spain, they have fine holding midfielders in their time. Van Bommel is a tough tackling bully everyone hates but loves to have him in their teams, while de Jong protects the back four and provides links between defense and attack. Busquets raised a few eyebrows earlier in the tournament, but as the tournament progresses I think he grows in stature. Tough in tackles,has the ability to smell danger and can pass too. Alonso has been a joy to watch. What he lacks in pace, he compensates with great positioning. His passings are as good as ever.

Okay now it's too obvious I favour the Spaniards, right? But somehow I want Dirk Kuyt to win, no one deserves success more than he does. Lets see how it turns out. :)

I can't fucking believe it. I do not care that some people call Benitez "fat Spanish waiter",but it's a fucking disgrace when the so-called self-proclaimed Liverpool fans are echoing the statement.

Yes he may have made some bad decisions but he is still our manager, who is also an integral part of the club. Every manager makes some bad decisions, buys some bad players. Houllier's only bad buys are Diouf and Diao? Please. There was even less competition to win the league then compared to these recent seasons. Were Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Tottenham challenging the fourth place too then? Think not.

If you ask me personally, yes Rafa has made some bad decisions. You guys want to get rid of him, what next? In my humble opinion I think we have to get rid of the owners first, ASAP. They are the overriding problem. Whoever the manager we will hire after Rafa won't be able to do their job properly either under various restrictions imposed upon them by the Yankee morons. And if we do fire Rafa, who's next? You guys want Mourinho and Hiddink, but why would those two unarguably great managers come to work with a financially troubled and instable club like us? Right now, we only have history, and only history will get us nowhere, you know it.

The last home game against Chelsea was something like a title decider, although that's not how I would like us to decide the title. But as the banner a Chelsea fan was carrying to Anfield said, "Gary Neville or Chelsea?" , Chelsea is definitely the lesser of two evils. Us and Manchester United go way back, while us and Chelsea have become rivals only in relatively recent years.

To be honest, I'm dead scared for the club I love. We're going to spend at least the next season without Champions League football, and that is bound to affect our finances. And with the emergence of teams the likes of Spurs, Manchester City and Aston Villa, who all are more than capable of challenging the sacred Top 4 places, our chance to be back in the Champions League would be an uphill struggle.

Since the takeover in 2007, our debt has increased almost 100fold. When David Moore sold Liverpool FC to some imbecile morons namely Tom Hicks and George Gillet, the morons inherited a total debt of approximately 100mil pounds. Fast forward 4 years, we currently owe the Royal Bank of Scotland around 473mil pounds plus 40mil pounds of interest. With our early elimination from the Champions League and failure to finish above the sixth place, it's no wonder that this season we recorded a loss in profit.

What's more embarassing is that Martin Broughton, the Chelsea season ticket holder had to go meet the Premier League committee to convince them because they were concerned that UEFA would not allow us to operate in our condition. It's fortunate that the license is already granted by the UEFA. Another report states that our current financial status is only good for another 5 years. If we keep going down at this rate, it would safe to bury Liverpool FC in another 5 years. :(

And I don't think anyone would meet the morons' asking price. Or if anyone, it wouldn't happen so fast. When the morons announced that they're selling, I thought it's too good to be true. I don't know why, but I'm not convinced with Broughton. :(

Last home game of the season

Watched the game from my hotel room in Bangalore last night. I don't know how I could stand watching the game in which Liverpool had only one shot on target in the whole 93 minutes.

Reina put on an impeccable performance as always. Was exposed by Gerrard's ill-judged back pass for Drogba's goal, and could do little for Lampard's goal. Made an excellent save to deny Malouda and 3 saves to deny Anelka. His athleticism and distribution are as good as always.

Carragher dealt with Drogba well, but had to be substituted early in the second half due to injury with a broken look on his face. Made some good interventions, but 126 minutes of football on Thursday had taken its toll on his fitness and he's not getting any younger either.

Agger put on a good performance at left back. Despite his niggling injuries, he has been one of the few consistent performers in the team this season, eventhough the second Chelsea goal came from the left flank.

Kygiakos is a monster. For just 1.5million, he's the best bargain of the season. He made some terrific challenges and seemed to be able to win every header that came in his way.

Ayala, a rookie 19-year-old centre back, surprisingly gave an assured performance. I was half-expecting him to be skinned by Drogba. Even some Mancs was impressed. Definitely one for the future.

Mascherano. The worst player on the field yesterday, simply put. I heard rumours saying that he was injured, not sure why he started yesterday. Was skinned by Kalou each and every time.

Lucas looked assured and confident. He moved the ball swiftly and accurately around the field. One of the better performers in our team yesterday.

Gerrard. History repeats itself, although he used to do that to Henry. It was a pretty even game before the disastrous back pass to Drogba to take advantage of. After the goal, it was all Chelsea. But to be fair, Gerrard did show some of his class in the game. Made some smart long distance and cross field passes from deep.

Benayoun. Not having his best day. Was quiet in the first half.

Maxi did well in link-up plays and looked composed on the ball. Made a fine pass to Aquilani but the Italian didn't score thanks to a late intervention by Ivanovic. Had to be substituted late in the first half due to injury.

Babel did little on the ball but showed some urgency .

Aquilani played well in the first half, was unlucky not score from a 25-yard shot that when a little over the bar. Spurned a chance to score due to late challenge from Ivanovic. Faded in the second half to be replaced with David Ngog.

Kuyt. Offered no threat as a lone striker, ran around like a headless chicken most of the time, but did some alright link-up plays.

As a Liverpool fan, I'm quite saddened by the loss, but it makes me feel better to think that Manchester United will probably not win the league this season.

And it's time to stop chastising Steven Gerrard. The man has had one bad season. He's been there for us in the past. Without him Olympiakos, Istanbul, Cardiff, to name a few, would not have been possible. I still have goosebumps thinking of the beauty of a goal he scored at Anfield against Olympiakos at Anfield in 2004. Let us all get behind him, he's had enough to deal with, what with the wild rumours surrounding him and his family. The least we can do for him is to offer him a moral support from us, the loyal supporters.

Champions League or Europa League?

It's been one hell of a season. 4th place is out of reach now, lets just hope that Manchester United won't win the league.

Come to think I it, I think I kinda want us not to be in Top 4. Don't get me wrong, I was us to succeed, I always have, but do we deserve to be in Top 4 this season? We've been playing like shit (with the exception of few games), enough said. Tottenham and City deserve it more than we do. So we'll have to wait for at least one more season to put ourselves together and start playing like the mighty Liverpool again to regain our place in Top 4, deservedly.

Let this be a lesson for all. We may be a club full of history, class and prestige, but that doesn't mean that we can stop playing well. What infuriates me the most is that sometimes I see those players in Red shirts on the pitch don't even look interested.

Well of course losing some major players due to both injuries and transfers were bound to cost us. Xabi Alonso's role last season as a deep-lying playmaker in our midfield cannot be more emphasized. While Johnson provides us an extra flair in attacking with his surging overlap runs, he is sometimes a bit suspect in defending, unlike the always-so-reliable-and-dependable Alvaro Arbeloa.

Maxi Rodriguez will come out good. Aquilani, can't say too much. He's had some good displays, including the man-of-the-match performance against Pompey, but at the moment he's a bit inconsistent. I just hope he'll be given a chance to show what he's made of. For 1.5mil, Kyrgiakos is a bargain. A bit nervy at first, but has been giving solid performances since. He's the best header in our team.

Yes, the lack of fund contributes to this dismal season, but the owners are not the only ones to blame. Here's an idea: why don't the owners, the manager and the players ALL take responsibility and stop pointing fingers at each other?

Benfica 1st leg

Well from last night's game I can conclude that:

- Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger are geniuses. That backheel is cheeky!

-In Europe you can keep your boots 5 feet high in the air and hit someone (i.e. Ryan Babel) on the head and not getting punished at all

-You can deliberately tackle someone from behind with such a crippling force and not being given your marching order

-You can retaliate when the referee cautions you after your deliberate serious foul play on someone and not getting a second yellow card.

-Touching someone on the face with such gentle loving force is worse than volleying someone from behind with extra heavy duty force

-When you grasp someone's hand for a second and let go a second later and not affecting that person's balance at all, you could be awarded a yellow card

-You can bring explosive flares,firecrackers and missiles in Portugal but you can't even smuggle in a can of Coke at Anfield.

-You can throw firecrackers and missiles onto the pitch in Europa League games in Portugal but you will be heavily fined if you throw an empty crisp packet in England.

-When you want decisions to go your way all night, you can ask your supporters to intimidate the officials with missiles and shout at them in the face until they give in.

Okay what Babel did was silly and gave a reason for the stupid ref to card him, but is his offense worse than Luisao's on Torres? No where in the FIFA guideline that says that you can be sent off for what Babel did. How could it be deemed violent conduct. Babel didn't set to cripple Luisao. Luisao retaliated when cautioned by the ref, than didn't deserve another caution?

But I can totally understand why Babel did it. I'm sick of watching Torres gets kicked all over the pitch too. He apologized later and admitted it was silly. It was silly, but I hope he doesn't feel very bad about it.

We didn't play all that well. After babel was sent off we looked like we were already giving up. Benfica started pushing us. Insua and Lucas had a stinker, enough said. But in all fairness to Insua, he was put in a terrible position, ergo the foul. You can argue that Carra's handball wasn't deliberate cause his hand was up before the cross was made, but I thought it's a penalty at the first glance. Torres missed a great chance for us to re-take the lead at 1-1. That was uncharacteristic of him, with the keeper already beaten but he put the shot wide.

It was strange. The ref got some major decisions right but made a few horrible ones too. Like Danny Agger rightly said, what's the point of having 5 refereees is none of them can make a decision?

Also, we're out of left backs and wingers. Aurelio's injured, Insua's suspended. Kelly's injured, too. Babel's suspended, MAxi's ineligible, and I don't think Rafa will let that prat Riera play. Benayoun is available though.

Great Win

Finished my second internal exam.7 papers. Straight. I'm knackered. Oh wait. I have one more end posting exam on Saturday. Dammit. Sabar Husna. Final year akan berakhir 4 bulan je lagi.

Well exam didn't stop me from watching the game yesterday. I was planning to peek through my books, checking the score every now and then, but then our El Nino was too good y'all. He scored after just 3 minutes into the game with a superb goal which got me excited so I shoved my books away.

Well I'm sure you guys watched the game. Need not say anything more do I? Gerrard basically mocked those pundits who suggested that he has not been playing at his best all season. Fine display yesterday. Like Shebby Singh rightly pointed out, Liverpool performance yesterday was refreshing. Some good movements, excellent quick and clever passings, a few tricks here and there. It's like watching the mighty Liverpool play. Lotsa positives. Insua certainly has put his Old Trafford nightmare behind him, tightly locked in his closet. Johnson's amazing. Want to say a thing or two about him, but I think I'll wait till the end of the season. Agger could do better with his headers though, he already wasted a few good chances before too. Babel's looking okay, positive attitude, I'm liking him again. Maxi showed good understanding with Torres, Kuyt and Gerrard.

Fernando Torres. Top man, he is. 21 league appearances and he's scored 19. Amazing for someone who's been unfit for a good part of the season. I really, really, really hope he's staying coz without him, we're doomed. Hicks and Gillet you better give Rafa the funding he needs!!

Might as well write the match review while I'm at it. I haven't been sleeping for 20hours yet I manage to stay awake. My eyes pop open when Lucas makes that magnificent run into the penalty box moments before he's brought down and gifted a penalty. Well of course Gerrard doesn't make mistake with it. 1-0 before you know it.

Liverpool dominate most part of the first half. Lucas picks out some great passes in the midfield, looks like he's employed in a more attacking role. Our fullbacks Insua and Johnson are positioned higher up in the field. Attacking.

There is one nervy moment of defensive lax when Hazard picks Agger's half-cleared ball in Liverpool half, dribbles past our sleeping defense to get one on one with Reina. Fortunately Reina has a thick skull. He saves with his head.

Torres looks super sharp. If you are listening closely, you can just hear Vidic's ass twitching in terror. Perhaps he needs adult's diaper come this Sunday. Wasn't an easy finish for the second goal, but he's Torres, he makes everything looks easy when he's fit. Gerrard is having a good game too, clearly getting back to his best. Timely.

Lille try to get back in the game. There are a few times when they look close to scoring. Nervy, as they only need a draw to progress.

Babel looks a different player lately. He works hard on the field, he even tracks back. He picks the cleared ball from a Lille corner in our half and sends the ball straight to Torres up field. Torres runs with the ball, Lille keeper comes out when Torres takes a shot but its too late, Adil Rami can only watch the ball rolls into the empty net. Kuyt is a little quiet, nevertheless his game isn's as bad as the few recent ones.

So. Quarter final. This is the only cup to play for. Play with your heart (and head) boys. We are counting on you. A trophy would be just nice to clear the dust in our trophy cabinet.

There can only be one winner

So there is another outburst from yet another Liverpool player regarding the way Rafael Benitez manages the club and players. This time the player in question is Albert Riera.

Lets look at this from one perspective. Whether his allegations are true or not, that we don't know. We don't know what is actually going on in the dressing room, but what we know is this: Riera is behaving unprofessionally.

He claims that he does not play enough games this season. Does he forget that he's been injured for a good part of the season?

He says Rafa thinks he's in charge. Excuse me Albert, it's bleeding obvious that Rafa Benitez IS in charge.

He also claims that Benitez never talks to him. Everybody knows that Benitez does not graduate from the Harry Redknapp's School of Man Management. He is indifferent and dismissive to all the players, it's the way he works. Not saying that his way is correct, but as a professional you have to deal with it. Not everybody likes their bosses, it happens in other professions too.

Who does he think he is? If those allegations were made by, say, Steven Gerrard, or Fernando Torres, or Jamie Carragher, or Pepe Reina, or Javier Mascherano, they would at least have some credibility. Riera has been here for one and half season. While his performance sometimes convincing, he lacks in consistency and certainly not a power figure in the team. It's a shame he has to make his feelings public, I've always thought he's a good option on the left.

So he's saying that the lack of playing time is jeopardizing his chance to be included in Spain's World Cup squad? His solution to this is thrashing his manager on Spain's national radio. What a way to get back in the manager's good books. Here's an idea: why not do the talking on the pitch? I'm sure there are lots of ways to make yourself good in Rafa's eyes again. 1) You can train hard 2) Get fit. You've been injured for long 3) Why not get some games with the reserves like Pennant used to do, it will help with your match fitness.

Take Yossi Benayoun for example. He wasn't a regular before last season, yet he never bad-mouthed his manager in public. He tried hard to earn his place in the starting eleven. Now look where his effort and professional conduct get him. I'm not a fan of Ryan Babel too because of his history of thrash-talking the gaffer on the media and his infamous tweet episodes, but he's been playing well of late, so I'll give him credit where credit is due. Robbie Keane has never been Rafa's best buddy, worse still Rafa ends his time at Liverpool prematurely, yet he never talks bad about Rafa to the press. You're a professional, you've got to behave professionally. If a doctor talks like this about another doctor, lets say his superior/supervisor, he could be sued for this.

Oh, I think I need to mention that his agent has been shamelessly trying to get Barcelona to sign him since last season. I mean, like seriously??

If he thinks his outburst would better the situation, he's wrong. In this Albert Riera vs Rafa Benitez battle, there can only be one winner, and it's certainly not Albert Riera, because you Riera does not matter.

Disclaimer: This is not me showing blind faith to the manager or what, this is just me thinking that Riera's behaviour is unacceptable and, quoting Drogba, "fucking disgrace". So don't bombard me with anti-Rafa sentiments. Peace no war. YNWA.

vs Arsenal

I just finished watching the replay and decided to blog about it since my view of the game is yet to be corrupted by internet pundits, I just read the match report on lfc.tv after the game.

Reina and Almunia didn't have much to do, except for the superb save from Babel's shot by Almunia.

Skrtel and Agger had a great game. One of the best from Skrtel I've seen so far this season.

Insua had some nervy moments, but he's alright.

Carragher had to be substituted due to adductor injury halfway through the game. His substitute, Degen, was absolutely abysmal.Our backline went haywire when Carra got off. As far as cameo apperances go, I think Degen's probably the worst. Was to be blamed for Diaby's goal (I think).

Mascherano was alright, did what he had to do. Lucas gave away a few balls and made some unsuccessful passes but won an awful lot of headers in the midfield. Surprising, actually, even for me, given the size of him and my status as a Lucas lover.

Gerarrd's great. One of our best performers. Dropped back to defend, moved forward to attack. He should be playing alongside Masherano in the central midfield in big games. I mean, he's dangerous when playing further forward and attacking the ball inside the box too, but he only is so when there is actually someone supplying the ball to him, and neither Mascherano nor Lucas is capable of doing so. So, for now he's better off playing around the box, that's where he got his reputation as one of the best central midfielder in the world, isn't it?

Kuyt and Maxi were both disappointing, enough said. Ngog was poor too. Can't expect a goal when 3 of your attacking players were poor.

The important decisions didn't go our way. Maxi's shot was blocked by Vermaelen's raised arm in the box, and that shot was bound to enter. Gerrard's free kick, out last effort, was stopped by Fabregas' raised arm on the line, it should have been a penalty and second yellow for Fabregas. But I guess Howard Webb just didn't have the gut to make the correct call. Perhaps he should consider other profession.

I called in sick today and was supposed to get a bed rest. But the thought of last night's derby win is keeping me up since before Subuh till now.

We started the game alright. Carra wins the first 50-50 challenge of the game and the crowd roars in appreciation. The derby game between two fiercest rivals in the country is starting to get hot and sweaty.

And yes it is a hot and messy affair. Pienaar's challenge on Mascherano should be awarded a red card instead of a yellow, and the referee Mr. Martin Atkinson has a good view on it. It is even worse than Masch's tackle on Ben Haim at Fratton Park. Liverpool players are getting battered up all over the pitch by a 'good' Evertonian side who looks more interested in playing rugby than football.

A series of crunching, leg-breaking tackles follows. Dirk Kuyt is kicked in the face by Fellaini, who escapes punishment. Halfway through the first half, Lucas loses possession in Liverpool half and Fellaini steals the ball. Lucas tries to get it back but Fellaini manages dodge his challenge. At this moment, Kyrgiakos comes lunging toward Fellaini in a two-footed, studs up manner. Fellaini, realising that a massive Greek centre back is coming to get him, plays his part well by stamping on Kyrgiakos' leg. Both boys are in trouble there but only Kyrgiakos is punished. Straight red, and so he's off for an early shower.

All downhill from here? Not for us. Playing against a team with a one man advantage is always difficult, but we've done it before. In 2006, Steven Gerrard was sent off only after 20minutes after the starting whistle, yet we managed to claw our way back in the game to win it 3-1. So why can't we do it today?

The answer comes in the 54th minute in the form of a certain Dutch forward-turns-winger. Maxi Rodriguez lobs the ball toward Ngog upfront, Ngog controls and puts in a deflected shot. Corner for Liverpool, nothing comes out of it but Gerrard wins another corner. Captain Fastastic swings the ball with all his might, Howard flaps at thin air, Phil Neville fails at his man-marking, Kuyt heads the ball in. 1-0 to Liverpool.

And right after scoring, Kuyt stops Everton from scoring. Donovan manages to glide past Insua on the left hand side, puts in a cross to Pienaar to head in at the right hand side, and what a good cross it is by Donovan, and a good run it is by Pienaar, but Kuyt is there to clear the ball away.

In a vain attempt to penetrate Liverpool defense, Moyes makes two substitutions simultaneously. Anichebe and Yakubu on for Saha and Osman. These two big thugs are supposed to cause problems to Liverpool makeshift backline with their strength and power in the air. But Reina, whose mistakes are non-existent these days, is certainly too good for them. He blocks a Yakubu shot, then makes another easy shot from Anichebe. Anichebe outmuscles Agger, takes one too many touches, then he shoots but Lucas is there to block, and Reina makes an easy save.

Lucas has been plain in the first half, but makes at least 2 good blocks in the second half. Good choice by Rafa by putting him in instead of the delicate Aquilani. If Aquilani had played, we would have to ship him back to Italy in pieces. And yes, STEVEN GERRARD is back, and stronger! Kuyt at times looks lost and has no idea where to run with the ball ot what to do with it, but his excellent workload and intelligence in positioning cancels out all his mistakes and headless-chickenness. Mascherano plays well as the makeshift right back too. In short, everybody in Red is awesome. The boys defend well and in an organised manner and also get forward to attack. It's a har fought victory, literally. So proud of you Redmen. So proud indeed. =)

Stoke

Oh hello there. It's been a long time, I know, but final year hasn't been kind to me.
Lets see what have I been missing.

Bloody hell.

We're in the 7th position.

Missed several games this season, but watched the Stoke game last night.
Quite disappointed with the scanty number of saves Sorensen had to make at the Britannia Stadium last night.
In fact, we could say that our only goal in the match was gifted by Sorensen. He could have caught the ball, and the good force in the form of a massive Greek defender, Sotirios Kyrgiakos managed to get the ball into the net. 1-0.

Of course, we could have gotten a lead before that. But apparently, according to Mr.Mason who has produced 4 red cards this season, 3 of them for players who play for Liverpool, thinks when a player is blatantly fouled in the penalty box, you should award him a yellow card for jumping instead of a much deserved penalty. And to top everything off, it happened right under the linesman's big nose without any obstruction whatsoever. You couldn't get any clearer than that. And that Higginbotham guy or whatever his name is,not that I care to remember,was jumping up and down after fouling Lucas like he was wronged.

We've conceded a lot of late goals lately. If only Benayoun hadn't made that tackle. If only. If.

And sure it happens again yesterday. Of course things happen to us, we're Liverpool. Things always happen to us.

After the umpteenth long throws, long balls and corners, we finally conceded a goal towards the end. It was from a corner from the left hand side. That Higginbottom guy again used his left arm to lever on Kuyt's (was it Kuyt? I'm not very sure) shoulder to jump and head the ball back towards the left side which subsequently resulted in Robert Huth's goal. Yes, our players are to be blamed for this. Huth wasn't even marked.

Kuyt should have scored that close range header,from a point blank range even. At the same time,Lucas was fouled again in the penalty box. But of course, nobody saw it.

Kyrgiakos was our best man against Stoke. He won a lot of headers and dealt well with Stoke's long ball strategy. Well, it's a relief that circus freak had to be withdrawn halfway through the match. 2nd best player would be Lucas. He has big shoes to fill in, and I'm not saying he's excellent, but he did alright. Yesterday's problem is that we just couldn't seem to place the correct passes. Stoke's playing a real physical game that it seems to me that they had extra players all over the pitch and sometimes our players didn't have a clue what they should be doing. Almost zero number of creative player on the pitch worsened the condition.

Saw a very interesting case today and can't help not blogging about it.

The patient was an elderly male with only 4 teeth left. His chief complaint was pain in the healing socket where he got a tooth (premolar) extracted 4 days back.

However, there was a very interesting finding in his floor of the mouth, a finding he wasn't aware of. It was a swelling measuring around 1x1cm in size, dome-shaped,slightly reddish in colour, non-tender, and there were also two pinhead-sized yellowish pustules on the peak of the dome-shaped swelling. We, the undergrads with very very limited knowledge, thought we were brilliant to diagnose it as a ranula, since ranula is the typical swelling present in the floor of the mouth. The intern and grad student examining the case weren't sure what it was, and there was absolutely no history of trauma,pain or any prodromal symptoms of infection whatsoever.

The grad student, Dr. Ishita Gupta then consulted a senior grad student, Dr. Poonam Agarwal. Interestingly, Dr. Poonam said that she came across a few cases similar to this one before, and she did a full complete investigation to determine what it was, but there was absolutely no signs of any pathology at all. Her theory is that the swelling is just a hyperplastic tissue response of the tissue of the floor of the mouth to edentulousness. A few friends came over from Karad (around 4hours from here) just to watch this game together. How cool is that? Me being the only Liverpool fan in this place was supported by 3 Chelsea fans. They also belanja me makan chicken briyani afterward.Hahaha!

Well I thought the first half was tight. We started better and had better chances. The first real chance came from Aurelio's free kick when Torres was fouled by Evra. Van Der Sar had to literally claw the superb curling ball from Aurelio out and still managed to recover and position himself well to deny Kuyt's follow-up. Having said that, Kuyt was probably guilty for not taking some chances and turned them into goals. We could've had 4 or 5 goals.

You know you deserved it when the opposing manager himself said that you were the better team. Lucas and Mascherano totally boasted the midfield, something we haven't been doing lately. Carrick and Scholes looked out depth and uncomfortable. Giggs tried to play the game from the periphery, and probably one of the causes why Johnson's attacking movement was limited, besides the latter probably still not having full match fitness. Valencia was causing all sorts of trouble on our left hand side. Rafa must have thought that this would happen, so he put Aurelio at the left midfield to provide a lifeline for Insua when required, and boy Aurelio was boss, attacking and defensively. He could have done better with Benayoun's cross from the right hand side though. Insua markedly improved in the second half, I'm quite worried about the way the oppositions are now channelling their attacks through the inexperinced Insua guarding our left side. He looked out of pace against Valencia today.

That would be the best performance I have ever seen from Lucas. He was everywhere,literally. His positioning has improved, so is his tackling (we could do with less freekicks conceded though, I always close my eyes whenever we concede freekicks), and he can pass. In the 2nd goal buildup, he delayed the pass to Ngog, thus releasing the latter free and putting him one-on-one with Van Der Sar,and we know what happened afterward.You should see Lucas' celebration after the 2nd goal! Mascherano was immense too, doing his usual stuff. Pity about the suspension though, but nobody is complaining! Everybody is having a good time, just enjoying it. =)

Benayoun was one of our best player too, as usual offered his creativity and the confidence to take on the defense. Starting the game at the right flank, he and Kuyt interchanged positions throughout the game. Provided the assist for Torres' opening goal. As usual, a high energy display from Kuyt, much to the annoyance of the opposition's rearguard, but could have done better with touch and finishing.

Johnson didn't look like he's 100% fit yet, but he did enough against Giggs at the right side. Our backline was tremendous today, Carra was back to his usual reliable self! He was lucky not to be sent off for professional foul,but that's the only flaw in his performance today. I'm not complaining, he did the right choice by hauling that Judas down, otherwise that would have put Owen one-on-one with Reina. And the tackle on Carrick was superb, it could have been a penalty, but even those mancs weren't complaining, so why should we? Again, he made the right decision, Carrick would have taken a shot and scored if Carra didn't interfere.

Agger was superb too, especially that tackle on Giggs. Reina didn't have much to do. The only real save he had to make was from Rooney's weak header from Valencia's cross. Torres? What more can I say, even at 80% fitness, he gave United's backline a torrid time. And Rio Ferdinand really helped too, by preferring to jog alongside Torres and gifting him a yard of space, which was exactly what he needed to clinically finish the ball.

In conclusion, in an out-of-10 scale, 10 being the best, everybody in Red shirts deserves a 10. And so does the middle-aged Spaniard in black suit at the byline..=D

I agree with Gerrard's substitution with Aurelio in the 24th min (that is soo unlike Rafael Benitez to make such an early change).

But Voronin in for Benayoun?? When we were 1-1 level with Lyon and there were like 5minutes to final whistle? Seriously Benayoun, who in my eyes was our best attacker tonight? The first thing that crossed my mind is: Is he trying to get himself sacked?? I don't see any rational in this substitution. What does Voronin have that Benayoun does not have? I could usually see the rational behind Rafa's decisions even if I don't agree with them, but I'm totally in the dark on this one.

By the way, Martin Kelly was fantastic. This is the first time I watch him play and he impresses me.He looks like a genuine deal. Are you watching, Mr. Capello?That was a great cross for Aurelio to head in from a point-blank range. And it seems like we went down to pieces when Kelly was taken off due to injury. Nice move from Lucas and Aurelio to set the 1st goal, and Kelly attacking the ball in the penalty box gave space for Benayoun to score. And I think I should do an official count on how many times players give away balls. I think if a meteor happened to fall down from the sky and hit your head tomorrow, you'd blame Lucas too. (kidding).

Insua was %^&*. What the hell happened to him? I thought Rafa was going to sub him with Aurelio in the 24th minute, I was almost going to applause Rafa for that. Kuyt was not very effective, but did few alright link-up plays. Aurelio crossed for Benayoun's goal and almost added one to his name too if it's not for that world class save from their keeper.

I miss the times when we used to know how to pass!

I haven't done the maths yet, but I think we do need to win all 3 of the remaining games. 2 away,1 home.Tough ones, with the way we're playing, we might end up in the Europa League after group stage.

13/10/2009. Several messages entered my ancient cell phone's inbox at once. I was wondering what kind of emergency could this be? I opened the first message,it's from Chai Ling, saying, "Tim passed away." I opened the other messages, they told me pretty much the same thing. Who is this Tim? Do I know any Tim? Can't be that Tim,right? Is this some kind of practical joke?

I went online straight away. I found that my homepage was full of my friends' status updates saying Al-Fatihah Tim, rest in peace. My head started to spin. TIM?? The one and only Tim I knew? This can't be right. I called my friend Asma who's studying in Salem,Tamil Nadu, same place Tim was studying.

Asma confirmed everything. Tim passed away in a car accident that evening. She died on the spot. The driver and another passanger didn't survive, the other passanger was in critical condition. The driver of the car they were riding tried to overtake a car in front of them when a bus came in the opposite direction and collided with the car. Encik Khai, our consule education in Chennai would be coming down there the next day and arranged to bring the body back to Malaysia.

Everything that happened was so sudden it came as a shock to everyone. Who would have expected a healthy, happy-go-lucky, easy going girl to die young? But then, we forgot that God have better plan for her. Tim, may your soul be blessed. You'll always in our hearts.

One of the papers interviewed another friend, Ting Teck Pei, but it seemed like they had a confusion about my freakishly huge and masculine friend's gender. How shameful. I knew Tim in preU, we were in the same class then. She was one of those anak Terengganu celup who's proud of her root. In our class back then there was another Terengganu celup, a nice guy named Farhan. Well, Farhan lives in Terengganu but he speaks the standard BM better than he speaks Terengganu, so he's always the subject of Tim's teasing. Tim used to say obscene/curse words in bahasa Terengganu in front of him, knowing he didn't know what those words mean, and we both would laugh at him. LOL. Good times.

Okay I still feel like talking about the Chelsea game.
Having watched a large part of last night's game under a calmer condition, I found that we didn't play all too badly.
We just didn't take our chances, and we didn't have that slice of luck we needed.
Torres' and Benayoun's uncharacteristic misses cost us the game, and Carragher's mistakes too.
If only we were awarded a penalty when Drogba fouled Skrtel, the result would have turned different.
Lucas didn't get skinned in the central midfield, but I agree that he was not what we needed yesterday although I could understand what Benitez might be thinking, fielding him yesterday instead of going with Gerrard in the midfield.
Chelsea weren't that great yesterday, but they took their chances well. Drogba made the difference, yes Drogba the muscular,strong and powerful cheating scum that always goes down way too easily when wind breezes in his direction.
And we had only 3 minutes of added time, because Rafa couldn't tell the assistant referee to add 6minutes instead unlike some particular manager.
Do we stand a chance of winning any title this season? Frankly speaking, I have the everything-is-over feeling but there are 30 more games to play. Manchester United have weaker team than last season, but then they always have FA and referees in their manager's pocket, they can have the longest added time they want, and luck too. An own goal at stoppage time from a brother of their defender.haha. Chelsea will lose half their squad to that African nations cup, and lets see how long they can endure with their ageing squad before injury crisis hits them. Arsenal have been good, but any team can score against them. Manchester City are scary, they have decent if not world-class players and depth of squad. Tottenham too, having our former striker who'd rather sit on their bench instead of ours. Like someone pointed out before, the last time a team lost 3 out of the 8 opening games but went on to win the league was Manchester United in 1967, but record is there to be broken. Lets get our hope and faith together and get behind our team. YNWA.

So we lost. We were nowhere near good enough today. Chelsea wasn't amazing either, but they did enough to win. We displayed no creativity. We need a genuine playmaker, stat.

We lost the battle in the midfield today. Chelsea on papers have better midfield players compared to us; Lampard, Ballack, Essien, Malouda, Deco as opposed to Lucas, Mascherano, Plessis, Gerrard. Perhaps we shouldn't count Gerrard as he rarely plays in central midfield nowadays. Lucas may be playing well against lesser teams but he can't be expected to deal with classy players the likes of Lampard, Essien and Ballack, they aren't in the same league.

I thought Mascherano played okay, but his mistake costs us. He was caught off possession by Lampard in the midfield, who passed to Deco who passed to Drogba who crossed for Anelka who went round Carragher like he wasn't even there and headed the ball in. And for goodness sake will somebody kill Drogba for me?? Otherwise I'll have to do it myself. He is inarguably a great striker with speed and power but he's just.......ugly and revolting and provoking and on top of that a drama queen. He should have been booked for at least 6 simulations tonight. And he killed our defense too. I thought Skrtel played well, he dealt with high balls and crosses well.

In my humble opinion, the only better Liverpool players tonight were Skrtel, Mascherano (bar that mistake), Insua and Johnson. Inexperienced as he is, Insua made some crucial interceptions down the left side of the area. Our attacking play looked better when Johnson went forward to support Dirk Kuyt, even forcing Lampard to be an additional left back.LOL. Having said that, Kuyt was ineffective tonight. Riera was frustrating too, I was expecting Rafa to substitute him with Benayoun on the 60th minute coz Rafa has never made substitutions before the 60th minute.

Well, Gerrard has been very poor this season. I mean, there are poorer players but Gerrard is the one to look up to for inspiration. He hasn't gotten any man of the match award this season, has he? Once again, he was caught in the no man's land and Torres was totally isolated and wasn't getting the supply he's supposed to get, thus he couldn't score. Like I said, our crosses were shocking, we never won any high balls tonight. This is so frustrating I don't know what to write. And the fact that we were not given a penalty when Drogba fouled Skrtel in the penalty box and Benayoun missing an open goal (!) when Hilario was already defeated just sum up the night. We didn't play well, nor did we have any luck. We had few chances but we didn't take em well.Two mistakes and we were punished for that. Carra really should have done better with the 2nd goal, and probably at fault for the 1st goal too. I blame Gerrard and Carragher for all of our poor performances this season. And Rafa too, due to his team selection and his inability to see that Gerrard should play in the midfield in big games. This is not a negative for Lucas, he is decent but he just doesn't offer what we need. He would make a good squad player, we can use him against the lesser team when Mascherano is not needed.

The good thing is that we were much better defensively today and didn't concede from set pieces. But all the same, we conceded from open play. Haih. At times we outplayed Chelsea, but a moment of clinicalness from them and unclinicalness from us cost us the result.

To be honest, I dread any game against a decent team with the way Liverpool are currently playing, and Chelsea are far from decent, they are actually a great team.

With Mascherano reaching his fitness, Rafa may take a risk by playing him tomorrow. We missed him immensely in Italy, Lucas is not as quick as him and didn't know who chase,didn't know who to tackle when Fiorentina passed the ball quickly in the midfield.

For years, Liverpool's main strength has always been at the central midfield. We boasted a number of world class central midfielders in Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, just to name a few. Now with Alonso gone and Gerrard practically does not play in midfield anymore, out team struggle to cope in the midfield. Well, when a team struggles at the midfield, that team usually is not able to win and keep the ball, ergo the striker of that team is not supplied thus the absence of goal. Chelsea, inarguably have better choice in midfield. Mascherano can't be expected to take of Lampard, Ballack and Essien all at the same time. They may use the same tactic Hiddink used last season that is marking Gerrard and Torres out of the game. And Lucas, albeit is doing quite well in recent games, isn't exactly in the same class with Lampard, Ballack, Essien and Mikel. But who knows? He surprised everyone by doing alright in Old Trafford last season.

That's one aspect to ponder upon. Another aspect of our game that costs us goals this season is our central defense. Skrtel and Carra aren't talking to each other anymore or what?? The partnership so solid last season seems so vulnerable now, with Carra looking older and older in every game. The way our defense handles crosses are unbelivable. Our full backs are doing okay, contributing to attacking play, but that generates another drawback; exposing our already vulnerable centre backs, especially during counter attacks. The absence of Mascherano in the last few games contributes to the sloppy defense, as he is usually the one for breaking up the opponents' plays and counter attacks, and often covers for full backs whenever the go forward. Drogba is so gonna kill us tomorrow. I hope Agger plays, as he always does well against Chelsea, but I reckon Benitez will take the 'safe' side by playing Carra and Skrtel.

Well, this is just me talking crap. Pessimist and fickle-minded as I am, I hope we at least get a point from the Bridge tomorrow.

Wow the neutrals must have enjoyed the game last night. I wish I was one.

Sloppy defensive display last night with a couple of individual mistakes. West Ham had the first chance on goal when they dispossessed Carra in our area. The first West Ham goal, a penalty, came from Carragher's mistake too. He was outrun and pulled the opponent's shirt and the ref gifted them penalty. But did Diamanti touch the ball with his right foot when he was sliding? If he did, then it should have been a free kick for us,shouldn't it?

Torres opened his scoring account with a marvellous solo goal. Insua fed the ball to Torres on the left,the latter took on West Ham's defenders and scored when the angle was against him. Diamanti brought West Ham level with the penalty. Liverpool reacted with Gerrard's header from a corner kick. It was going in but Kuyt had a faint touch on the ball so the goal was credited to him. Steven says he wants the goal though.lol

4 minutes later, Carlton Cole scored a header from a corner. He got in between 3 Liverpool players; Carra, Torres and Skrtel. Skrtel could have done more though. Cole had half a yard of space between him and Skrtel, and he outjumped Skrtel.

I haven't said this for a long time, but Babel played well when he came in. His pace and runs caused problem to West Ham's defense, and that was a quality cross from the right side for Torres to head in. Man of the match: Fernando Torres. I think the whole team played pretty okay last night albeit few mistakes, but it was Torres who made a difference.

Everyone was already blaming our zonal marking for Cole's goal, but did they see that West Ham concede from an easy corner? It was due to individual mistakes that we conceded. Is Carra losing it? Might be a problem to us since Agger is still injured. Anyways, another win, another 3 points. =)

I think I'm heading for a breakdown. I'm hyperventilating and cussing out loud as I write this.

They say bad things happen in 3.

First, raya holiday on the 21st is canceled.
Second, we just got our jurnal today and we're supposed to write assignments about ALL topics of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. It took me 1 month to finish that assignment in 3rd year and now I have to complete the assignment for 3rd and 4th year in 2 weeks.
Third, they put up an announcement on the notice board today saying that whoever remain absent on the 21st of September (raya day) will be marked absent for 10days in addition to the absent period.

What.The.Fuck.

I don't see any logical explanation in this, not that they gave us any.
The Dean, however, has a reputation of being a Muslim hater.
I still remember in 1st year when we asked permission from him to be exempted from any Hindu religious ceremony,he said no. We asked for 10min to pray, he said no. We told him we we're devout Muslims, we practice our religion. He said you have to abandon your religion if you ever want to succeed in your career. He said how can you stop to pray when you're doing long operation? We explained to him that it's totally a different matter. He didn't pause to listen,didn't let us explain and kept giving us bullshit excuses.

I mean, it helps, but we need someone to play the midfield from deep so that Steven Gerrard can concentrate on getting forward and not wasting his energy and time tracking back, so you need to provide us the service and anchorage Xabi gave last season. However, if Mascherano is playing, I think you're quite free to go more forward, that gives us for option in attacking coz you can play the one-twos with our other attackers and keep it simple.

It's 4-0. 4 is officially my favourite number now.. ^_^

We started a bit slow. Burnley had the first chance on goal. In the first 20minutes or so, frustrated Liverpool were restricted to long range shots by Torres,Kuyt and Gerrard. Then Benayoun found a space in between Burnley defenders and gave Jensen no chance. A fine starting goal. After that goal, everything clicked into place. Benayoun could have had 4 if it's not for the dubious offside call. He was onside ref, only Torres and Kuyt were offside. Black hair, blonde hair, see the difference? Didn't matter, he got his hatrick.

Well, we started with Stevie and Lucas in the central midfield, Benayoun and Riera on both flanks, Carra ad Skrtel at the heart of the defence and Insua and Johnson at full backs, with Torres and Kuyt leading the attack. Then halfway through the 1st half, Rafa signaled for a tactical change. Kuyt moved more toward the right side and Benayoun was given the license to roam. A decision proved worthy. Gerrard started from deeper and was quiet for the first 20 minutes or so, but then ran the midfield and his usual forward bombardings.

Benayoun was exceptional. I'd give him 9/10. But what's more impressive is that Lucas performed well. He bulked up in the summer and definitely looked stronger. There was a scene in the 2nd half where we displayed a sloppy defensive play, and it was Lucas who finally managed to bring the ball out of the area. He used his body to block a bigger Burnley player and got the ball out of dangerous area,an impressive strength for a man of his size. He passed well too albeit some of his trademark sideways and backward passing, but he kept the ball flowing and gave chance to Stevie to get forward often. We need a player like this,like how Alonso used to do for us,the reason Gerrard-Torres partnership was so successful.

Benayoun the picked up the ball at the edge of the area and shot. Jensen couldn't handle it and Kuyt,always the opportunist punished him from the rebound. Half-time break came at a wrong time,we were on fire.

Nice team play for the 3rd goal between Torres,Gerrard and Benayoun. Torres picked up the ball at the right side of the area and passed to Gerrard, Gerrard with his timely run picked up the pass perfectly, got past defenders, feigned a shot and passed the ball to Benayoun for a simple tap-in with the keeper already defeated.

Then Liverpool got a freekick after Gerrard was fouled at the left side of the area. Gerrard took the freekick, Benayoun scored but he was deemed offside when he was not.Ughh. Nevermind, his treble came with a smart assist from Voronin. The funny thing is that everyone thought he was offside,and even he took a second longer before taking a shot. A thoroughly deserved hatrick.

Gerrard was guilty of not scoring. He got past 4 defenders, rounded the keeper, but then the angle was so acute he only managed to hit the post. Frustration and disappointment were evident on his expression. The other chance was the Voronin's backheel, but he only managed to shoot straight to Jansen. And if it wasn't for Jansen, we would be having a Gerrard special last night in the form of a wicked twisted ball in the upper right corner of the net.

Torres didn't have the brightest night, but with he present on he field, he was sure to drag at least 2 defenders alongside him, thus opening the space and opportunity for his teammates to do the job. Riera was quite disapointing in the 1st half, but he must be in the receiving end of Rafa's halftime break verbal abuse that he upped his performance in the 2nd half.

Johnson wasn't able to go forward as much as he liked initially in the absence of Mascherano to cover his defensive track but as the game progressed he got more forward and helped with the attack.Generally an okay performance for someone who was being put under scrutiny for his England performance. Insua gave a solid defensive display too. That was a good cross for Benayoun to head in. Reina was a mere spectator for a large part of the game but not disappointing when called upon. His distribution is the best in business. Sktel who has just returned from injury didn't have a great night,the physical presence of Burnley players seemed to bother him a bit.Oh how I missed the bitchface.Haha.Carra was as rock solid as always.

Oh, and does Rafa have a varicose vein over his forehead? I could see the dilated, tortuous vein during his after-match press conference. Too much to think,eh? Think well Rafa, for we want to win EPL this year.

Watched Bolton vs Liverpool last night.
The performance wasn't up to the mark, but we won, so it's fine.
Our new signing whose name I still don't know how to pronounce or spell looked fine except for few nervous moments. It's never wise to keep the ball longer than a second in your own area. And he could deal with aerial threat, the one aspect we're currently lacking a bit since Sami left.
The 2 Bolton goals were defensive mistakes.
Steven saved us yet again. Great comeback after that dismal performance in the previous game.
Lucas..well he didn't play that well,not that any of us expected him to, but there were a few moments of good forward passes apart from the usual backward n sideway passes which are trademark of his, and he won the ball back when he lost it.
Great play buildup between Benayoun,Torres,Gerrard and Voronin toward the end of the game.
Well, international breaks. It's gonna be a boring week.
Oh yeah, Glen Johnson is worth every penny!

Oh, I think I need to mention this as well. I find myself not attracted to Torres anymore. Now I'm crazy about Edward Cullen. But I have to admit, if i didn't know Robert Pattinson was gonna play Edward in Twilight the movie or if Mudin hadn't given me the Twilight book, I might have found both the book and the movie very teenager-like and I might have not liked them at all. Now that the situation's reversed, I find Twilight very romantic. Impossible but romantic. Stephenie Meyer combines Dracula, vampires, werewolf, even Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet together with a little twist of her own imagination. When Jacob and the werewolves come into the picture, it gets hilarious. Can't wait for Midnight Sun, Edward's version of Twilight.

On a lighter note, Liverpool got a fairly easy group in the Champions League Group Stage. Don't know if we're ever gonna make it to the final though. Sometimes I feel like the whole point of my existence here on Earth is only to moan and make negative comments. Haih will try to be more optimistic, but no promise here.

There's nothing much to write really. I got so fed up watching the game last night that I carried on chatting with my friend online who was also fed up with the way the game was going on.

I guess we started okay. The first chance came when Torres chipped the ball toward Benayoun who hesitated and couldn't direct the header past Friedel. Then there was a scramble between Torres, Gerrard and Benayoun so close to the opener it was almost unbelievable. Torres slipped when he was taking the shot and the ball fell to Gerrard who was almost largely invisible in the first half and who also couldn't put the ball into the net despite having two good chances there, partly due to end number of human bodies in white shirt on the line.

Well, Lucas. He kept the ball flowing but then gifted Aston Villa a freekick in 35-yard area and also scored for Aston Villa. That just sums up his night, even I can't back him up today. He's back to his old self. Alonso was sorely missed. The non-existence of a genuine playmaker in Liverpool's play last night was very noticeable. Gerrard played badly, especially in the 1st half. I would have expected Rafa to play Gerrard deeper alongside Mascherano, but Rafa only listened to my desperate pleading halfway through the 2nd half. Then Curtis Davies scored a glancing header from a corner (was it?) , and Carra could have done more with it.

Torres got a goal but could have had more. Nice cross from Insua who was under pressure but still managed to get the ball to Torres who then pushed the ball into the net. Friedel was one of the reasons why we didn't manage to score more. The game last night was nothing like the last time Villa came to Anfield. This time they learned their lesson. They kept the game tight, giving no player no time and space on the ball.

And just went we thought we could turn this around, Gerrard fouled someone, was it Reo-Coker? inside the penalty box. The referee gave a penalty and Ashley Young converted it succesfully. That's it. Game over. Liverpool 1 Aston Villa 3. I found more muse in the absolutely gorgeous Edward Cullen last night. Watched Twilight twice. The distraction I need, since Torres' pretty face is not so perfect anymore with that black eye. Pale is the new tan. Cheers.

The new Liverpool signing has started watching friendlies and training at the academy although he is sidelined for injury for one month. One month!

Meanwhile, Rafa said that Aquilani is an attacking player who can play between the lines, maybe between Gerrard and Torres. From what I see in Youtube videos, his positioning sense is good, quicker than Alonso, can shoot from a distance, and unlike Alonso, can provide final passes as he plays more forward. The drawbacks; people say he is injury prone, passing quality can't be completely analysed from youtube videos, plus he needs time to settle down in new league,new surrounding,new culture,new food,new everything.

I was bored to death at SMK Chukai yesterday listening to my friend Cha's guide after SPM to a bunch on Form 5 students when I thought about a hypothetical situation that would be happening at Liverpool following departure of Alonso and arrival of Aquilani.

Aquilani plays a little forward as compared to Alonso who sometimes was positioned even in line with the centre backs. We usually play from direct play from deep with Alonso hitting a 20,30,40,50-yard pass straight toward the forward, Stevie or the wingers. Now that Alonso is gone, who's gonna feed the ball to Torres, Gerrard and co? Masherano would still play deep of course (provided that he stays) but passing isn't his best attribute. And he lacks discipline in positioning, what with the forward bombardings all the time! But thanks largely due to his unbelievable stamina, he always manages to get back and does his primary job, even manages to give a hand to the fullbacks!

In my opinion, there would be 4 solutions that I could think of
1. Stevie drops deep and plays midfield all around like he used to do, but he's the best attacking midfielder in the league there is. So his talent is a bit wasted this way, and we wouldn't see the magical partnership with Torres, albeit one of these days I would like to see this partnership broken as sometimes they try too hard to set each other up.
2. We start playing and building attacks by way of short passes. This is where Lucas could play his part which he did best during his spell that earned him some golden ball award in Gremio.
3. Aquilani plays behind Gerrard as box-to-box midfielder playing short passes, of his long passes are as good as Alonso's he could hit long passes like Alonso did as well.
4. Agger plays, bringing the ball out of defence area, with Mascherano covering temporarily at the centre back when Agger goes forward.

I'm at home now, in Malaysia for a 2-week vacation. I'd like to write more, I'd like to pour down my whole emotion here, I really do, but I hate this 14-year-old keyboard. My Abah got this keyboard in 1995 when he first bought a PC. Since then. no keyboards worked except this ancient,sclerodermatic keyboard. Others would be of use for a few months then they would eventually break down on their own account. And I can't figure out how to connect my laptop to the internet. Buta teknologi.

With Alvaro Arbeloa also gone, Liverpool are back to the same condition we went thru last season, if not worse. Worse, as far as central midfield position is concerned, and same,as far as right back position is concerned. We're back to one right back and we lose one central mifielder. Lucas will be able to do the work to a certain extent, but only to that certain extent, if you know what I mean. Does this mean Stevie will be pushed back to central midfield and Torres be given a striking partner that is Voronin? Or will Yossi be given more shots at central midfield where he does best? We probably may not see Stevie in his most lethal form next season, as a second striker.

And then there is an issue about that old prick again. Is he losing his mind? The season has hardly started and he has already started to bicker with Rafa Benitez. If you wanna know my take on this, I think this whole 'mind game' is hillarious. Who is Alex Ferguson to question Rafa Benitez's achievement with Liverpool? That senile old dickhead probably doesn't even remember his own history!!

Steven Gerrard has been given a not guilty verdict by the Liverpool Crown Court in spite of the CCTV footage showing it was Steven who threw the first punch. With speed and power of that of a professional boxer, according to the prosecutor.
That's a good thing for Liverpool albeit I was half-expecting Steven to be found guilty.
Thanks a bunch to the failed prosecution.haha.

The Alonso saga has not stopped and it's been driving me crazy. Yes it's tabloid talks but with Alonso himself refusing to rule out move to Bernabeu, it still can happen. If Alonso is going to stay, what will be of his attitude in this coming season? Will he sulk or brood or play a silent revenge toward Rafa n Liverpool for not letting him go? Will he still give his all in his every game? Will he still be among the hardest working Liverpool players and will he still cover most miles in one game as given in Uefa's Champions League statistics?

People have been talking about Liverpool's preseason form which is usually impressive, but I'm not worried at all. Rafa has been fielding young players to give them experience and trying new technique and experiment and he is unlikely to continue doing so when the season starts.

Rain rain rain. It rains everyday and we can't help it. Still can't bring myself to study for practical exams this Friday. Too damn lazy. Been doing a lot lately without actually doing anything worthwhile doing, such as this blog. Been doing lots of money spending as the folks back home kirim this and that like kain sari, cotton, buku, etc etc. My umi even asked me to bring back a stainless steel wok! Boleh pengsan la.

Been running around my living room when I can't get out to gym. I have vowed to keep fit and to slow down the development of any potential unwanted and unsynchronised overgrowth in my body which I'm pretty sure is going on quite well as we speak. SO. Been getting my fitness back albeit slowly. Heart rate's back to 60-65 beats per minute, not sure bout BP. And..this is probably the hardest of all..I've cut all the unnecessary carbs and fats and those in-between meal Pringles. But don't know how long it will last. I'm not famous for high motivation. haha

What makes me want to be healthy again?

Few reasons.

1. I need to get rid of those unsightly spare tyre. so that I could fit into most of my jeans and tops again without having something protruding shamefully from my belly.
2. I freaked out after having palpitation for a few days after the operation. I'm so afraid there is something wrong with my heart coz the handsome anaesthesiologist told me that my pulse rhythm is irregular.
3. Since I'm pretty sure I'll get cancer sooner or later given my family and personal history, I'd rather get it later rather than sooner. I wanna enjoy life before I die. I do not want diabetes, hypertension and heart disease accelerate the development of cancer.
4. Trinity is coming in October so I need to get extra fit now coz the tournament will be in the winter. Cold air is suffocating. Last winter I could only manage 5 laps before I was out of breath. This year we want to win!

They said the future of Alonso will be sorted in 24hours. I want Xabi to stay but if his heart is not at it, there is no use of him staying.

On a lighter note, today we all the Malaysians in perantauan stuck in Belgaum, India had dinner with Mr.Khairuddin, Consule Education the Consulate General Office in Chennai. Free dinner beb, at the most expensive hotel in Belgaum.hehe. But the food was mediocre. I ate one helping of everything on the buffet table and 3 helpings of caramel pudding and vanilla ice cream with hot chocolate.ahaha. I refused to wear baju kurung today coz it was raining and I was going there by bike. But i decided against my better judgement to put on a little mascara and eyeliner. When I arrived at the hotel, I went straight to the restroom to find that I have smudged mascara and eyeliner all over my face.haha. Damn u Maybelline and Clinique. You promise your products are waterproof.Nevermind, I clean up the mess but didn't touch up as I dont usually carry makeups in my handbags except for the must-have lip balm and compact powder then I dried up my blouse using the hand dryer.and I dont know why am I telling you this.haha

I'm not exaggerating when I say my love affair with Liverpool Football Club started with Michael Owen. When i first laid my eyes on him (on tv, of course), I did not know a thing about football. The first thing I noticed about football was that joy on the players' faces, their passions translated into their reactions on football pitches, and I noticed all these when I first saw the game that Owen scored. I don't remember which game though. Then i came across a Michael Owen poster, a promotional poster by Pepsi for World Cup 1998, quoted: i have always wanted to be a footballer.....(dont remember).......it doesn't matter whether u or ur teammates score, what matters is that ur team win the game. and i thought: wow, this guy is a star yet he is so humble and selfless. made me like him even more. (and he is kinda cute.)

Who could forget that FA Cup final against Arsenal which Owen single-handedly won for us?
Then...he left us for Real Madrid. I thought I would change my allegiance since Owen was the reason I supported Liverpool in the first place..I thought my allegiance would leave Liverpool together with Owen..I thought I would pledge allegiance to Real..I thought Real was my new passion..well, it was, but it was also a short-lived one.

Then I realised that nothing, NOTHING could ever change the way I feel about Liverpool.

i decided to use 90 minutes of the time i was supposed to use to study for pedodontic end posting exam last night to watch confeds game between spain and new zealand. not that i expected lotsa action, just cant resist the opportunity to watch football in this football-deprived time of the year.

nando was a class act. the non existing marking of him helped but nevertheless that was a good performance especially for goal no.1.

riera was lively with few assists. he had a hand in 2 of torres' goals. and guess what, guess what, he shot with his right foot! who said this guy doesnt have a right foot.plus he got picked ahead of david silva,was silva injured? he looked fine to me when he came in.

alonso made a couple of mistakes but nevertheless he did enough at the centre of midfield, taking senna's role playing deeper just in front of the back for.was senna injured?

fabregas was fantastic. he should hv got more assists to his name if its not for the linesman who was practically acting like new zealand's 12th man.xavi was relatively quite but it was enough.save ur energy for the opponents who worth it.

villa was relatively quiet if u want to compare him to torres tonight but had 1 assist for torres' tap in goal and torres returned the favour afterward.

albiol was probably saving energy for the next match n we certainly cant blame him for that. not that he had much to do. puyol was always eager to go forward. unlucky his cross was a bit too high for ramos to head.

ramos went forward quite often but then left the space for new zealand to initiate the attack. capdevilla was awesome though. he linked well with riera on the left hand side n provided a few crosses and assists.

keeping track on egypt-brazil match. score line is currently 3-3. the 2nd egypt goal was a screamer. zidan scores the 3rd goal. i heard ppl mention bout this lad several times on the net,how good is he?

well my end posting exam went well.19/25 isnt bad according to the department's standard. my friend manages to score 20 though, so that made me the 2nd highest scorer.hahaha.

The ongoing perplexion over his constant rejection can't be an issue of morals. Go back to Rossi, Pique, Forlan and certainly, there were no quarrels.

And then against Manchester City, the duckling scored a screamer, admittedly his first in a while. The stadium erupted, his team-mates loved it, but from the boss, not so much as a smile.

Then the 'golden boy' and 'actor', CR7, was subbed and snapped at his colleagues. The crowd weren't impressed, nor were the rest, but the manager remained completely jolly.

The duckling was choked, surely, this was a joke? He didn't know what else it meant. He wanted desperately to stay, the pretty one went astray, yet the boss supported his dissent.

So he can cry and moan, and always act like a kid? Just because the boss must keep him happy, so he doesn't move to Real Madrid?

Now they're trying to bend the rules, thinking that they're cool, trying to get him for free. They don't want to pay, wasn't that Wenger's way? This is getting very silly.

2-0 at the baggies.job done. the performance,especially in the 1st half was not satisfying but the job's done.stevie scored probably one of the easiest goals he has ever scored. the baggies hv captivated the attention of lots of football supporters this season with their desire n effort to play good football unlike other teams on the lower end of the table. n its down to individual mistake from their centre back that led to gerrard's goal. well u cant hold on to the ball dat long n try to act fancy in ur own area when a player the likes of steven gerrard was breathing down ur neck. hence, the goal.

alonso changed the game as soon as he was put on the field. it wud be a mistake to sell him in the summer. rafa benitez knows better how the fan wud react should he try to sell alonso again. insua was quite disappointing in this game,so was arbeloa who has been consistent this season. then there was the clash between carra n arbeloa. carra has no right to stick arbeloa like that. he himself has done a fair share of mistakes n even own goals but the difference is no one dares to stick it up to him. what i dont like about this kind of situation is that i feel that our captain is very slow to react. 1st incidence: mascherano at old trafford. yes,he was 60 yards away but he could hv come to the scene a little quicker, couldnt he? n the 2nd time is this 'brawl' between arbeloa n carra. in both situation alonso is the one who calms both players down. i wish our captain fantastic could handle the situation better next time.

torres...errr..he looked so out of place n had no desire watsoever to play.probably the worst performance in red shirt? so quick to jump into conclusion...haih.. benayoun wasnt effective either but at least he tried. torres needs to improve his ball control in static situations ( he seems to hv better control when the ball is moving)..dats the apparent weakness of his game for now.

cant sleep. 1st there was the power cut.then it became freakin hot i couldnt sleep.then there was that sound.again.i know its probably the stray dogs outside making creepy sound like that but it sounded like a baby crying.scared the hell out of me.then this pericoronitis of the soon-to-be-erupting wisdom tooth is giving me a pain in the tailbone.i m seeing dr.sarvesh this monday to get it disimpacted.cant stand the pain any longer.each passing second feels like a hundred years just pass by.or should i see dr.kotrashetti? he is the best but i bet he is too busy with all the major surgeries n administrative work..so i dont think i ll bother him with a simple disimpaction like this.well there is no other established oral surgeon i know...perhaps dr.purnima is good but she is too sassy...n dr.meenaxi is pregnant..so i ll go to dr.sarvesh la..he's already done my previous extraction what..n he told me he ll do this thg...hmmm...wat do u do when u cant sleep at nite? the pain is still bothering me dat i practically am overdosed with bonjela at the moment.hope i wont develop any gastric ulcer la.but since i already am having acid reflux problem so there is every chance i ll get an ulcer la.haih.so many medical complication la this girl.luckily u still can jog around happily like that.which reminds me...2 weeks hv gone by without any exercise.n u expect to maintain ur weight?what la girl......exercise mls,mkn byk tp bdn nk jaga...tsk tsk tsk...

there has been a delay since my last post as i hv been busy with my endless public health dentistry projects; seminar,survey,models,case papers,etc etc. but yeah i could still able to allocate 90minutes to watch epl..=)

3-0 at upton park. is it significant? to keep pressure on united,yes,but to win the title,i dont think so. the title will not be ours this season,no chance, unless united were to lose to arsenal this weekend, which i doubt its gonna happen.united will be able to clinch at least a point even if they play like shit.

the torrard showed us again how deadly the partnership can be. the reds' opening goal came as early as 78 seconds after the starting whistle. beautiful thru pass from torres toward gerrard with his perfectly timed run thru 2 defenders who were convinced that he's offside, rounded the keeper n put the ball into the empty net. good start for the reds.

actually i was hoping gerrard will be pushed back to centre midfield in the absence of alonso but then rafa preferred the 4-2-3-1 formation which proved useful against west ham. liverpool looked organised n able to stop n break west ham's play,masherano doing what he does best...and..and... i thought lucas played rather ok. not excellent, but ok. he held the ball well, keep the ball flowing nice n easy,didnt give away too much ball...he did give away some balls,but stevie also did,so i dont think we should single lucas out in this.stevie did score 2 goals,but if u want to slate lucas for giving away balls,u should n must n it is almost an obligation to mention that gerrard also gave away a few balls n was playing at average level. (i know i will get slated for this,slate me all u want but i m atill entitled to an opinion n so do u ). the only players who performed above average that day were kuyt n masherano. torres didnt play particularly well n had less time on the ball but he had a hand in the 2 first liverpool goals;thru pass tu gerrard n won a penalty.

carra's almost deadly mistake.luckily enough di michele were not rooney.i dont remember that much about the game to crap much here anyway.now dont hv idea to write anymore..haha n yeah the decision to replace aurelio with insua was spot on.what on earth is happening to aurelio. its good to see ryan got a goal as a striker,hope it does him good n bring him the confidence he needs.

ryan babel. i wont shed a tear if he leaves us in the summer,but still...he has a potential to become a great footballer.i mean, he has the physical attributes a great footballer needs..strong body,height,pace,power....but footbalingl brains. his first touch is sometimes awful (makes me flinch sometimes), his decision making needs to improve.

eventhough there is rumours everywhere saying that tevez may join liverpool in the summer, i dont think it is true.united will buy tevez. furthermore i dont think liverpool will meet the asking price,dat is 26mil minimum. if i were u , i wont get my hopes high. although i do think tevez suits liverpool play like a key fits into the hole. he is the rafa type of player.never gives in n always works his socks off. he is like the better version of kuyt.not implying that kuyt isnt a good player,but i think tevez has better finishing (although he did miss few sitters this season). n i really really really hope that alonso's transfer rumours is just rumours! there is no stupidest thing to do than letting alonso go.please do not let alonso go.i cant think of a replacement better than alonso himself.barry? a sweet left foot, but thanks, i ll hv alonso ahead of barry any day. if u want to buy barry its fine with me as we need a proper box-to-box midfielder (lucas belom cukup bagos lg i think), just do not sell alonso.

there was a dog that always slept outside our house. we used to call that poor thing jimmy. we thought jimmy was rabid as he seemed very inactive and lethargic all the time.sometimes when he slept on the hallway or on the stairs, he got on our way but jimmy was a good dog. he would just get up,straighten his back muscles and slowly walk away.back then we had no problem at all with jimmy. just let the poor creature had a shelter from the scorching sun and unpredictable rain under our roof.we didnt really mind as stray dogs are everywhere to be seen in this place.

one day, i came back from clinical posting feeling exhausted n pissed off. as i was walking up the stairs, there he was, dozing off lazily on the stairs and clearly obstructing my way. i tried to chase him away, but he didnt seem to understand me. he stood there staring at me. me already pissed off, got even more pissed off. i muttered under my breath, "go away you stupid bitch". all of a sudden, jimmy growled at me. i was too scared he was going to attack me that i screamed my lungs out, but no, he did not attack me, he just calmly walked away downstairs as always.

that was my first and last encounter with a dog that could understand english. after the incident, jimmy never slept outside our house again.he was now nowhere to be seen.if i were to see him again, i ll try to talk in malay n lets see if he can understand malay..i think i've just made a big discovery...hahaha =D i'm talking crap again i should stop.

did barcelona deserve to enter the final? not?

what I personally believe is that barcelona were the better team over the 2 legs. they had an overwhelming ball possession, 70:30 at home and and 67:33 at stamford bridge.they passed the ball with class, they were the only side that looked like they actually wanted the ball while the immobile chelsea men riding on a transformer's truck were happy to just sit deep and defend. anyone of u wondering wats a transformer's truck? i'll put it this way. transformer's truck is a metaphor. i m sure all of u hv watched the movie transformer? no? nevermind.not important. well the transformer's truck (read: chelsea players) parked itself right in front of petr cech but its always ready to accelerate in valdes' direction at the breaks to inflict real damage to its enemy.dont get it? although this mighty transformer's truck looks damn strong but surprisingly it does go down pretty easily, regardless of what others might say about its physical advantage n strength. n this transformer's truck escaped from nou camp with its flawless defensive display.

while the transformer's truck may hv escaped out of the great nou camp unscathed, with an advantage of being the favourite even, suddenly fate turns its back on them. well like they always say to the team in red shirts, ur luck cant run forever. now transformer's truck,eat ur words.

lets get back to the topic. was it or was it not a penalty?

1. alves on malouda. this is clearly not a penalty. they were pushing each other outside the penalty box, then the ball was somehow being carried inside the penalty box with mutual body checks between them,then malouda went down.no penalty.free kick given.fair decision.i hate malouda anyway.bad bad hair.haha

2. abidal on drogba. drogba was on the run n abidal chased him, myb with a bit too close a distance. i think it could be a clear penalty, only the referee overlooked it. did justice to bosingwa's foul on henry in the 1st leg. but drogba, being physically very strong, could hv tried a lil bit harder to prove himself a good striker by trying to stay on his feet for a lil bit more time n then finish it off.

3. handball by pique. again it could be a penalty. but the ball bounced off the ground, into pique's chest n then toward his arm. his arm was already stretched before the ball bounced off the ground, so it wasnt deliberate. n the ball wasnt on the way of strike.

4. handball by eto's: there is no way this one is a penalty. when ballack stroke the ball, eto'o turned away n the ball hit his arm at the level of his armpit.no way this is a penalty.ballack membazir yellow kad je g bntah ref nye decision.

the red card awarded to abidal following his alleged foul on anelka was harsh. they came crossing with each other for the ball n i think its actually anelka who appeared to hv tripped over abidal, not the other way around n anelka went down sure too pretty easily.

in the end, barcelona, the catalans, the team that play with beautiful football, great passings, prevail. i hv only 1 thing to say: please kick manchester untied's ugly asses for me n liverpool. rome 27.5.09. i'll be waiting.

manchester united won n rightly so..quite disappointed with arsenal last night..man u started the game at full throttle n arsenal didnt seem to be able to cope with them. in the end man u hv a 1 goal lead come the 2nd leg at emirates stadium next week,anythg can happen but man u is now the favourite to go into the final stage of the competition.hope arsenal will do something about it. rooney was given the task to patrol the left side of the field again n he did a fine job over there. walcott was quite a handful for evra but in the end evra got the better of him.even with minimal time on ball walcott was a threat to man u.fabregas,nasri were supposed to be the creative players n the brains but none of them shone last nite.arsenal certainly did defend better in the 2nd half but the damage has already been done.anyone saw how ronaldo cried n whined n screamed when gibbs fouled him in the pen box? tv replayed the scene over n over again n it gets more hillarious with each replay.

anyway i m off to bangalore tonight to attend the malaysian student leadership(?) conference 2009.so after missing the hull game next week i m going to miss this one againts newcastle also. but hey stevie is back so nothing to worry about..just go out there n play ur best football..going to wish fernando good luck on twitter later..bye =)

tertido ms tgk game ni.ngantuk sgt. chelsea played for draw..referee was shit.. ballack n mikel should hv been sent off for multiple bookable offences. it pisses me off that barcelona was the side that actually played football from start to finish yet the advantage is to chelshit. n the player ratings on espnstar.com is bullshit, not that i ever believe their ratings anyway. 90min of good perfomance,just 1 mistake n the rating could go down to as low as 5.great stuff to read. guus hiddink managed to fool everyone by saying in the pre match press conference that "there will be lots of goals" leading everyone to think chelsea would actually go there n play football. hope the game will be more open in the 2nd leg but barca looks like they r having problem of their own.suspended puyol,injured marquez. imaginary fouls leading to yellow cards to barca players when half of the players in yellow shirts should be sent off.

i obviously am not using rationality here but nvm i ll edit later when i achieve d peace of mind i need.

1 month i was posted in the oral n maxillofacial department. well this time we're allowed to take cases for extraction,suture removal,irrigation, etc. since we've finished with the theory portion. so far, this is the branch of dentistry i like the most. my 1st extraction case was an easy 1, a mobile tooth (26), but the experience of giving nerve block to the patient seemed scary at first but exhilarating later. my 2nd extraction case was the most challenging of all. i was ordered (yes, i mean that literally) to remove 16 (right upper 1st molar) tooth which was grossly carious. the mesial half of the tooth was already gone. well the intern who was on opd duty didnt even order an iopa before the extraction. as a common knowledge is us the dental practitioner, it is almost an obligation to get an iopa xray before any extraction of maxillay 1st molar, in case the roots extend into the maxillary sinus, which may cause complication after extraction. there are 3 legal cases against the hospital still going on now in that the roots of the maxillary molar broke during extraction,root fragments got lodged in the maxillary sinus, infection n inflammation of the sinus, invasive maxillofacial surgery to treat the complication, hence patients sue the doctors.

back to my case. under the observation from dr. rohan shah, i palpated the mucobuccal fold of the maxilla,located the landmarks for posterior superior alveolar nerve block, injected the LA solution, gave the buccal infiltration for the mesiobuccal root of the tooth n greater palatine nerve blocks. (i know, the blocks werent necessary but just for practical purposes). then i reflected the gingiva n applied the forceps onto the root of the tooth. after that, using my theoritical knowledge, i started giving the buccal n palatal movements once i had a firm grip on the tooth. well the tooth didnt seem to be moving a milimiter! i took almost half an hour to extract the tooth, that after changing the 16 forceps to cowhorn forceps. when i finally managed to take the tooth out........wow...... the 3 roots were unusually long....n diverging!! my hands trembled, thinking what would i do if the roots were broken in the process n got lodged in the maxillary sinus ....n also silently cursing the intern who didnt order for iopa n my own foolishness not to ask about iopa..

so moral of the story..i ll never forget to ask for iopa before extraction of the tricky teeth next time..after that few cases came..then end of omfs posting...n its gonna be a while till i'll be able to come back to this department again.=)

sympathy votes count. ryan giggs, probably the player with the most honours to his name is finally the PFA player of the year. ryan giggs, who has been a regular in alex ferguson's squad but has started only around 12-15 premier league games this season (needs verification).

the PFA player of the year award. the name of the award suggests for the award to be given to the best player throughout the season, not only halfway thru season. so,with all due respect, this award should be appropriately called as the PFA player of the mid-season award. why? well the players who are the members on the PFA receive a letter stating they have to vote bla,bla,bla before april.as far as my knowledge goes, the season doesnt end in april!

i m not implying that giggs doesnt deserve the award, but he deserved it years ago when he was playing at the top level for manchester united. now he isnt even the 1st choice in ferguson's stating 11, in contrast to steven gerrard who has been the driving force n highly influential to liverpool. n what does cristiano ronaldo do this season to even get into the list? all hype,that boy.

for liverpool player of the season, if u ask,i ll probably say xabi alonso. the fact that almost all of our best times in the season hv been achieved without gerrard,torres or both (- real at bernabeu,manu at old trafford , villa at anfield), but alonso is instrumental in all liverpool performance. he's like the heart of the liverpool play, being a pass master,dictating the play the way a master concerto conducting an orchestra..he's real class...real class.. for now i ll vote for xabi, maybe i ll change my mind later..well girls love to do that.
